Nominations announced today! Winner announced 1 November

Lawson - "Taking Over Me"

Little Mix - "Wings"

Marina & the Diamonds - "Power & Control"

Nero - "Promises"

Olly Murs ft. Rizzle Kicks - "Heart Skips a Beat"

One Direction - "What Makes You Beautiful"

Rizzle Kicks - "Down with the Trumpets"

Rudimental - "Feel the Love"

Saint Etienne - "Tonight"

The Saturdays - "All Fired Up"

Siobhan Dillon - "Powerless"

Will Young - "Jealousy"

A rather weak list (and quite a few from this time last year as well - is that usual?). I'd say Little Mix would be the obvious winners, but The Saturdays could be defending their title also (making them only the second act to do so).

There are only two that I haven't heard (Saint Etienne/Siobhan Dillon) - are they worth listening to?

Awful list but Saturdays to win please.

Is there some reason they've included "Power & Control" over the much better "Primadonna"?

Anyway, I'd love a One Direction win but Little Mix would be my 2nd choice. The Saturdays would be alright I guess but I think it's nothing on "Higher".

The Saturdays or 1D to win plz. Both are two of my favourite songs of last year and are in my top five most played songs.
Popjustice is w***, they over hype so much shit. However out of those I would have to go for Marina.

AMAZING

The Saturdays - All Fired Up

GOOD

Little Mix - Wings

Lawson - Taking Over Me

Olly Murs ft. Rizzle Kicks - "Heart Skips a Beat"

One Direction - "What Makes You Beautiful"

WHAT

Saint Etienne - "Tonight"

Siobhan Dillon - "Powerless"

DIE

Marina & the Diamonds - "Power & Control"

Nero - "Promises"

Rizzle Kicks - "Down with the Trumpets"

Rudimental - "Feel the Love"

Will Young - "Jealousy"

Siobhan Dillon is such an ODD inclusion. Not a bad song but hardly outstanding. I suppose 'Guilt' was before the eligibility period but 'Promises' is such a lame pick. And 'Power & Control' over not only 'Primadonna' but 'RADIOACTIVE'? Madness.

It says a fair bit when I'd pick Olly Murs, though that song would've been a diamond of a pop song whoever had landed it. Will, 1D or Saint Etienne are the only other ones I'd be happy to see win.

Most egregious exclusions: Labrinth's 'Earthquake' and Florence's 'Shake It Out'.

WOT no Girls Aloud? WOT no Starships? :P

What a DIRE list though. PopJustice really is a shadow of it's glory days (2004-2007).

My pick of the pop singles from '11-'12:

*Charli XCX "Nuclear Seasons"

*Florence + The Machine "Shake It Out"

*Jessie Ware "110%"

*Marina & The Diamonds "Radioactive"

*Rihanna (and some twiddling of nobs by Calvin Harris) "We Found Love"

ALL ARE BETTER THAN THAT LIST COMBINED. KTHXBAI.

Does the new Calvin and Florence track not fall in the eligibility period? Maybe that'll feature next year.

They could've at least shoved Lightning by the Wanted in there.

Totally agreed. Perhaps we should boycott them and do the 'BuzzJack 20p music prize' and genuinely send the winner 20p or donate it to charity.. I don't know I'm talking rubbish because I've had 5 hours sleep in the past 2 days.

i love it!!!

Ha! LOVE IT also!

We'd need to let the respective nominees know that they've been shortlisted though. I'm guessing Florenceandthemachine(CalvinHarrisRemix)@hotmail.com should probably get there.

Marina & the Diamonds - "Power & Control"

Nero - "Promises"

Rudimental - "Feel the Love"

The Saturdays - "All Fired Up"

i am a big fan of these tbh <3333 power and control was #01 for me this year, rudimental i like, and nero and saturdays were in my YTD top 20 last year so i'm pretty pleased there

I thought popjustice hated Olly Murs?

~(this 20p prize NEEDS TO HAPPEN. let's elect a panel NOW (i vote for me))

It's a bit of a random list, and most of those picks don't feel very Popjustice-y.

I mean they've shunned Cheryl Cole, Florrie, Charli XCX, Cher Lloyd, Nicola Roberts, Emeli Sande etc in favour of Lawson, Nero, Rudimental etc. Not that I have anything against those songs, I just don't think they represent Popjustice very well.

To be honest the contenders will be:

Little Mix - "Wings"

One Direction - "What Makes You Beautiful"

The Saturdays - "All Fired Up"

Last years winners vs. the most popular song of 2011 vs. the most popular British song of 2012 so far.

The winner, one of the 2 girl groups (One Direction are not as popular here than in America ATM)

Last years winners vs. the most popular song of 2011 vs. the most popular British song of 2012 so far.

So it's The Saturdays vs. Adele - Someone Like You vs. Jessie J - Domino, going by that?
