To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart, every weekend our good friends at MTV will be counting down some very special Top 60s. Today at midday, they will be revealing the Top 60 biggest selling Number 1 collaborations of the 21st Century!

Shaggy's It Wasn't Me FT Rikrok tops the chart. Released in 2001, it entered the Official Singles Chart at 31 before climbing to the top spot on March 4, ending Atomic Kitten's four week stand at Number 1 with Whole Again.

Peter Kay's 2005 reworking of Tony Christi's Number 18 1972 hit Is This the Way to Amarillo? is in second place. Released in aid of Comic Relief, the track spent seven weeks at Number 1. It became the best-selling single of 2005.

Gotye FT Kimbra's Somebody That I Used To Know, which is the biggest selling track of 2012 so far, is at Number 3 in the countdown, while Rihanna FT Calvin Harris' 2011 Number 1, We Found Love, is at Number 4. The 2004 re-recording of Bob Geldof and Midge Ure’s landmark 1984 charity single Band Aid 20 (Number 5), completes the Top 5. Bono, Paul McCartney and George Michael were the only artists from the original recording session who appeared on the 20th anniversary release.

You can view the Top 10 below, but be sure to tune into MTV at 12 (midday) today to see the full Top 60 countdown!

Good god, another balls up here. Can Band Aid 20 be considered a collaboration in the same way as the others listed? our any more than any other "group" who only had one hit. More to the point Audio was never credited on "Stan" so officially it isn't a collaboration, these really are the basics OCC.

IMO it is somewhat mean (even if technically correct) to deny Dido a namecheck, especially as she contributed far more to Stan than many *named* featured artists have contributed to other songs in recent years!

Perhaps Dido isn't officially credited on the Stan because her part is actually a sample from her song Thank You. Although I still think she should be credited as she obviously contributed a lot to the song. I think music channels credit Dido as a featured artist now though.

She also featured in the video, of course.

all this may be true but I expect the OCC to deal in official credits, maybe I'm old fashioned like that lol

The Band Aid is more of a super group, OCC probably have thought since there are various artists, why not add them as collaborations

Like I said in the thread, Dido was a featured credit on 'Stan' AFAIC :P Band Aid 20 is a ridiculous inclusion though. Wonder if they'd count an act like Traveling Wilburys as a collaboration in that case.

There seems to be no official rule on that. Sometimes the samples get credited (e.g. Lily Allen on 5 O'Clock, Dev on Like a G6, etc.), other times they get ignored. I think it's just up to the record labels to sort out. Maybe they can pay less to use a sample if the singer gets a featured credit.
