They won't even do two weeks there tbh. They'll have mega-frontloaded sales on week 1 to get to #1 then the week after Gangnam Style will return to #1

So the #1s should look like this

Hall Of Fame

Gangnam Style

Live While We're Young

Gangnam Style (stopping Leona Lewis and SHM)

Gangnam Style (stopping Calvin Harris)

Gangnam Style (stopping JLS and Naughty Boy)

Candy (hard to predict but this and Misha B are the only contenders and Gangnam's sales would've dropped off by here)

Has anyone forgotten Ellie Goulding? She might not be able to match OD's first week sales, but she won't be as front-loaded either, so she has to be considered as a possibility for the following week, too...

As for PSY, I don't think a return to #1 is at all likely - their sales will undoubtedly peak next week, then they'll be pushed down to #3 by OD & Ellie, and by the week after that, their sales will have declined sufficiently for that week's NE's to overtake them too.

I am happy to say this has nothing on 'what makes you beautiful'. The video is catchier than the song (taking into account the target group) itself. I am not so sure these kids will evolve to the next BSB people are expecting them to...(in fact I am pretty sure they won't). This single will do well (should get to no1 for a week) because there still is some interest for them, but the fact it is not any good will backfire on them at the future releases. I can see them doing a 'Burke tumble' in 2013. If this is the catchiest song of the album it won't sell much in 2012 either.

Well said, totally agree, record companies put so mjch pressure on them to come up with an album for xmas every year that the product will inevitably suffer - just look at jls, its all about profit!!

This is AWFUL. It's sad that we all know it's ending up at number 1, even before we knew what it sounded like, we knew it would go top. Simon Cowell is just thinking Ching Ching.

Well, 'PSY' doesn't exactly sound like an actual name, even a Korean one...

It's pronounced like "sigh".

Have you not seen the video?

This is far too similar to WMYB and One thing (which I liked) So much so that I heard the Intro and asked the kids to turn it up coz I thought it was one of those songs! It is early in their career but they still need to make the good pop songs in order to sell outside their fan base which will wane pretty quickly.

77 people predicted #1

6 people "predicted" flop

No-one predicted anywhere in the top 40 other than #1

How wrong we were! And how happy I am that they didn't go to #1.

Now let's see how many people "predict" this to go Top 5. :kink:

92% predicted it would go to #1, 50% predicted it would sell between 150-199k - how wrong we were (I voted for both of those). Unsure why it wasn't a bigger seller really, it was released almost OA/OS, the video/airplay was there and the hype was definitely not there. Guess the viral success of 'Gangnam Style' and the unbeatable Rihanna were just too much. Still hoping it sticks around for a while, it's a decent song.
This is what happens whey they don't do any promotion for the single over here I guess.

Is appearing on X Factor for 10 seconds not promotion? :o :o

One member appearing on the Radio 1 breakfast show's first relaunched week with the song being played after each.

Also appearing ALL DAY on the Saturday on Radio 1 as well as appearing on X Factor for no other reason than to promote their single

So no-one got the peak correct (presuming it doesn't climb) and only one person got the first week sales correct!

I mean they haven't done any performances of it. Which you think they would with the big new single for their new album.

Well, this sold 86k... Wow, 55 people thought this would actually sell more than 100k. Damn haha.

'Live While We're Young' first week sales will be...

80-99k [ 2 ] [2.86%]

Whoever you were, kudos to you both. I voted 150-199k at the time. :drama:

The person that voted top 5 obviously must have done it today

They did, as no-one voted it when I wrote my previous comment. Same goes with the extra vote on the 80-99k.
