Oh so that's what Joseph Whelan is - I wonder why there's a sudden deluge of acts performing original songs on the X Factor? It's not really something that's ever been done before.

Two very different new OA/OS songs:

48. Begin Again - Taylor Swift

57. Carry On (Call of Duty: Black Ops II Version) - Avenged Sevenfold

Taylor is #1 on US iTunes as per  Interesting that she's actually released 'Begin Again' at the same time as everywhere else after the success of WANEGBT, perhaps some record labels do pay attention. I've heard that this new song is a return to the country sound so almost certainly won't do anywhere near as well if that's the case - it could go top 20-ish on iTunes on this initial fanbase surge though?

In relation to the xfactor - they now allow artists with record deals on the show - similar to Lucy Spraggan so some of their songs are on itunes to smaller labels!!

They've released a Taylor promo single on air/on sale IN THE UK! :o

WELL DONE TAYLOR AND HER LABEL!! :cheer:

Hope it can get top 20 at least!

I thought WANEGBT was the promo single? That would make this merely the 2nd single...

Will it even be chart eligible?

WANEGBT was the official single, this is a promo single in the same vein as Die In Your Arms, All Around The World and initially As Long As You Love Me for Justin Bieber.

The new one will probably been in the same situation as the three most recent Justin Bieber songs - release it, see how it performs and if it gets great reception, push it as the official second single in a month or two. 'WANEGBT' definitely counts as the album's lead single, not a promo single, and has done incredibly well - and deservingly so. Makes the release of the upcoming album all the more interesting.

In the US, Taylor Swift always releases like 3 or 4 promo singles running up to each album. They're not promoted as proper singles, just put on iTunes, a bit like Justin Bieber did earlier this year. They usually don't get released in the UK, but they've surprisingly released it here this time too. I think they should be chart eligible.

EDIT: Sorry, two people already answered the question while I was typing this.

How much did Love Story officially sell? It wouldn't surprise me if WANEGBT managed to pass 400,000 sales, It's still top 5 on iTunes and maybe if she promotes it could help this album be her most successful yet, hopefully she manages to get a new peak this week!

I don't know how much Love Story sold, but it got #29 in the year-end charts of 2009.

I seem to remember around 300,000?

I think maybe more than that, since I know Love Sex Magic by Ciara sold about 300,000 in total, and that was just outside the year-end top 50 in 2009.

Has iTunes crashed? Nothing seems to have moved for ages?

Nope, but what do you expect on a Tuesday evening? :D

BTW Conor Maynard went top 10 just an hour ago ;)

I got in from school today to find him there though... :P

SHOCKED at a Taylor Swift song on the verge of top 20. Has she officially broken the UK market now? Even though WANEGBT has done really well I was still expecting the album to be a bit of a non-event here in the UK. Hopefully it'll be a smash :D

Very surprised at 'Begin Again', I consider Taylor to be my favourite artist but even I find it dull. A lot more country than WANEGBT too.

Looks good for the album though but I expected it to be her biggest (UK) era yet with the success of WANEGBT & the upcoming Ed Sheeran duet.

4. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together - Taylor Swift  (+1) :cheer:
