Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga performed together on Monday in the Tony Bennett Concert Hall at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in New York City.

Tony brought his friend Lady Gaga with him for the last day of classes at the school in Astoria, Queens. Taking questions from the 700-student audience, the two stars talked about jazz music, The Great American Songbook and creativity.

The two singers delivered some classic American songs, Bennett singing The Very Thought of You and Lady Gaga delivering her version of Cole Porter's Every Time We Say Goodbye. They duetted with I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, with a cheek-to-cheek slow dance.

"When I first heard Gaga sing, my reaction was that she is going to be bigger than Elvis," said Bennett. "She is so bright and intelligent and she has it. In jazz you either got it, the syncopation, the rhythm or you don't, and when I heard Gaga I said she's got it."

Gaga and Bennett performed together on The Lady Is a Tramp for Bennett’s Duets II album. "When I am with Tony I feel like I am fifteen years old at home, listening to Ella and Coltrane records," she said.

"The way he sings is effortless and so prolific. It’s so liberating to be able to sing jazz, especially at this point in my career."

Gaga and Tony Bennett are currently collaborating on a jazz album scheduled for release later this year.

Surely this must not be that far off now? Her current styling with afro wig etc. suggests she's promoting Cheek To Cheek already. She also got a trumpet tattoo on her arm in honour of the album. Surely it's soon!

She's really embracing the jazz and new jazz era coming up...(which is good)...

Spotted on the streets of New York City and wearing what very well could be described as a wedding dress, Lady Gaga seems to have put Artflop Artpop behind her in a big way.

The pop songstress is dropping hints all over Instagram that her sessions with music legend Tony Bennett have put the pep back in her step where it belongs.

First of all, I'm loving black-haired Gaga and everything it's giving the world. For example...this, this and especially this.

Secondly, she seems as happy as someone could be mere hours after a really gross example of human indecency leaked all over the internet. With captions like, "What a beautiful day with Tony I had. He's the best. I love the way he calls me Lady" and "I can't wait for the new album to come out. Tony and I are having so much fun, he always puts a smile on my face," it's easy to see that our fair Lady is still excited to call the recording studio her home.

News of her impending jazz album with Bennett isn't new by any means, but I'd put money on it that something will hit the stands any day now.

After all, Gaga did just get a brand new tattoo of a trumpet that Tony sketched himself.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed that this tattoo serves as a better precursor than her artpop stamp was...

She does seem to be moving on from ARTPOP now. She needs this era to bring back her credibility and so far she appears to be doing the right stuff.

A rumour round-up of the next single.

Some believe "Gypsy" will happen because there were apparently fans told that she was making a video for it. Others believe "Venus" will be released next because she's been working with the guy who made the single covers for "Venus" and her facebook cover photo has been updated to this...

Obviously it doesn't list "Do What U Want" but they do generally some to be brushing over that single release. Of course, she might also release a brand new single next! Either from "Cheek To Cheek" which is her collaborative album with Tony Bennett due in September according to rumours. Or ARTPOP II - perhaps Brooklyn Nights, AMY or T.E.A. just to name a few.

I hope I'm not alone with this, but ANYTHING EXCEPT VENUS! :(

VIMEO: Brooklyn Nights (Audio)

VIMEO: Gypsy (Live on SNL)

I think she should wait till next year to release a new single, if it's a brand new song.

They should just move on to the next era.

This one was long dead once DWUW started falling down the charts

But with artRAVE running for the considerable future, I don't we'll get a non-ARTPOP related album until it's over. Whether it's an ARTPOP Act II single or another ARTPOP single.

I just want 'Cheek To Cheek' to HAPPEN and bring back her artistic credibility!

"I do not understand as to make contemporary music! When she sings great standards, she does it with such emotion ... It will surprise people by the quality of her voice when making quality songs. We sing a duet again on the album, but also separately. There are also some original songs, including one she wrote called Paradise. With this album, I think it will become bigger than Elvis Presley! Of course we recorded the album in New York. As the song says: "If you size a place in New York, you'll make it anywhere.

Quote from an interview with Tony Bennett.

So some original songs and some covers for this album. "Paradise" is an original written by Gaga.

I can't wait for this album and hope it becomes a massive success!

Gypsy should have been released instead of GUY, but to be honest I don't think anything else will be released from this era as it would bomb badly.

Exactly what I've been sayin April!

Is it actually expected to be a big commercial force? I was assuming it was a low-key side project for her.

Similar, I thought this was a side project and then onto a new album next year?

Just released onto iTunes today.

There's a special announcement on the Today Show, presumably the album release date or something.

The album release date has been confirmed as 23rd September 2014.

Here's the official video. It does the job, but I can't help but think they could've had a stronger song.
