Well, I honestly expected OneD to be number 1 already, I have no doubt they'll get there before 4pm though. it won't perform anywhere near as good as What Makes You Beautiful, but its such an inferior retread of that that its not all surprising.

Rihanna's newie hasn't clicked with me yet, very glad Ellie's looking at around top 5 though.

002. One Direction - Live While We're Young

004. Rihanna - Diamonds

I think all 3 of this week's big new entries will end in the YE Top 40. Such a great week, sales for the Top 3 are gonna be huge.

I am not sure about Ellie, I thought she would be higher than #19 just now. I agree with you, if you are saying the top 3 will be One Direction, Rihanna and Psy.

I am not even sure if Rihanna will get #2 this week, Psy's lead is so big that even the boys seem to be taking there time of getting over it, so maybe Rihanna might have to settle for #3 this week. There is lots of time throughout the week though.

'Anything Could Happen' in the Y/E top 40 really? I doubt it'll get anywhere near, it's hardly smashing now.

2. Live While We're Young - One Direction

4. Diamonds - Rihanna

17. Anything Could Happen - Ellie Goulding

69. Swimming Pools (Drank) - Kendrick Lamar

92. Anna Sun - WALK THE MOON

97. Skirts (Radio Edit) - The Other Tribe

Ooh at Walk The Moon and The Other Tribe top 100. Surprised (in a good way) that One Direction aren't #1 yet, if Rihanna or PSY could block them from #1 that'd be brilliant!

Especially if PSY managed to keep One Direction off the no. 1 spot, that'd be a genuine :D moment for the UK charts.

 03. Rihanna 'Diamonds'

 04. The Script 'Hall of Fame'

Thrilled the label decided to release 'Diamonds' ASAP - it'll definitely do better in terms of sales now, I reckon. A top 3 debut looking likely now.

Yap and it will sell very well in the long time, it's a grower and a perfect winter song.

The best thing too about 'Diamonds' getting an instant release is that it's more likely to continue selling throughout the week as more people discover the track is available to download. Unlike 1D whose main sales will all be today. I'm still convinced that by Saturday night, Rihanna will be no. 1 on iTunes although if 1D perform next weekend on the first X Factor live show, that should help maintain their sales and avoid a sudden drop off in sales like 'WMYB' initially suffered.

One Direction's song has only been held back for about 2 weeks I think, comapred to What Makes You Beautiful which was probably held back for 2 months or so, so I would expect it to get off to a slower start.

And for Buzzjack :o

Is it way out of the picture if Rihanna jumps over 1D before they're able to get above Psy? :P
92. Anna Sun - WALK THE MOON

Oh yes! been obsessed with it for weeks!  good to see it top 100, if it could get there officially, that would be even better

No...

Can we all now agree that OA/OS does work in this country?

For massive acts like Rihanna and One Direction - yes. For newcomers and lesser known acts held back releases are the way to go. Would Rita Ora have scored 3 #1s this year if they were all OA/OS? I don't think any of them would've got #1 without being held back.

Last year thanks to preorders 1D sold 82 k copies in two days, and now they had even more preorders. So if they will have around 90-100k copies after 2 days it's imposiible that PSY or Rihanna will have no.1 at the end of the week. Let's be honest that PSY song is some kind of joke, and Diamonds are far far away form Rihanna's best single, they doesn't have any chance with power of teen and preteen girls.

With big artist's yes, but say if Ellie Goulding was to do OA/OS I don't think it would work. Likewise for other artist's, it really does depend on the fanbase, but Taylor & Rihanna & Kanye have shown in the past week or so that it does work over here. :)

Has anybody noticed on Capital FM's playlist they've put Diamonds by Starboy Nathan instead of Diamonds by Rihanna? http://www.capitalfm.com/on-air/playlist/

It could work for Ellie Goulding, since it worked for her in the US.

Lights had a chart run of: 85-99-92-87-84-80-83-79-84-85-78-68-65-66-62-60-54-49-40-35-26-22-17-14-13-12-6-6-5-5-4-5-2-2-3-3-4-5-7-10

To be honest though, I'd hate it if lots of songs had chart runs like this in the UK. Lights was close to being disqualified from the chart at one point.
