The advert for Now! 85 premiered today, so I'd expect that will give it a further boost when it hits TV.

I think it could be close between Jay-Z and Robin Thicke for the number one spot. Would be nice to see an album spend more than a week at number one again, but I'm really enjoying Robin Thicke's album, so I'd be happy with either being number one this week (kind of pushing for Robin though).

Judging by pre-orders, it seems Selena Gomez (#151) and Jahmene Douglas (#238) have the best shot for number one next week out of the new releases. Not sure what kind of sales they are looking at, but I guess with the success of her recent single, Selena might just scrape 20k.

Then for 29 July, AlunaGeorge will probably be highest new entry as they are currently #655 and #707. Not too sure about number one, depends how low sales are. Asking Alexandria are at #186, they seem to be the kind of act whose fanbase will give the album a high debut and a big second week fall, so whether they'll make number one the following week...perhaps. Not sure about 12 August, but with the 19th, it seems John Mayor may have the #1 in the bag.

After that, the release schedule improves and there could still be more albums added too. As long as we don't have sales under 15k for the number one, I'll be happy. :D

If Demi could only get to #10 after Heart Attack and not even get a boost from BGT, I can't see Selena doing too much better, I'd say she'll be top 10 easily though, don't need to sell a lot to get there.

Yeah suppose you're right. Demi managed 10k and since Selena's previous two albums debuted with 8k and 7k, I suppose she will be able to make 10/11k which would be enough for #5/6. But still, she (along with Jahmene) still does have the best shot for number one out of the new releases. Thinking about it, Jaheme topped the voting for the majority of the weeks during last series of The X Factor so he could do quite well.

Yeah, I can see Jahmene scraping to #1 next week (albeit on pitiful sales followed by plunging down the chart).
#1 album could be anyone next week really - Jay-Z, Rod Stewart and Jahméne Douglas (:manson:) are probably the main contenders but Robin Thicke, Passenger and even Mumford & Sons could also challenge. All on terrible sales of course.

f*** Buttons comin for dat #1 SMASH album

(but realistically, I wouldn't actually be surprised if Selena Gomez ended up getting there next week)

Kings of Leon's new single premiered this week, so Only By the Night is back due to hype from that. Not sure what's caused the surges for The Beatles and Queen as they aren't reduced - perhaps some sort of iTunes promotion? Also, there is many albums that are £3.99/£4.99, I'm just highlighting ones that have had big jumps.

I can't believe there is only 2 new albums that could be charting top 40 and that is coming from Selena Gomez #8 and Jahmene Douglas at #17, at the moment the leading album is Jay Z, album sales are going to be horrendous. Pet Shop Boys have really dipped... ouch
Not that hard to believe after the last 3 weeks have had 2, 1 and 3 top 40 new entries respectively :P
Jahmene Douglas needs a top 10 this week or possibly top 5 to stand even a smidgen of a chance of a follow up album.
'Now! 85' up to #1, 1D down to #2. Both of them hit #1 on pre-orders alone but 1D getting the initial lead thanks to being available for pre-order for far longer.

New releases (top 200):

6. Stars Dance - Selena Gomez

13. Love Never Fails - Jahmene Douglas

67. Asymmetry - Karnivool

86. Slow Focus - Fuck Buttons

166. Borrell 1 - Johnny Borrell

189. Love Your Dum and Mad - Nadine Shah

192. Unimagine - Hands Like Houses

(not including compilations cos no1curr)

A Rolling Stones live album is at #3 now (and is the top artist album). Is this new? I guess it could challenge for #1 this week if so.

It's an iTunes exclusive so I doubt it.
