Now just over a week until the album is being released, so how do you think it will do?

I don't really care where it charts, so I put down top 3 because it's her best era to date but is not deserving of #1 (then again her main competition Mumford and Sons aren't deserving of it either in my opinion) . I think it will be #1, she's done lots of promotion in the UK, the promo singles and X Factor performance should definitely help

vidcapper, do you happen to know any of her total album sales or what sales she's opened with in the past?

I don't think there's much competition so I'm thinking (and hoping) #1, with her biggest opening sales so far. She's done promo, had a big lead single, successful promo singles (which JB also had when he got to #1 earlier in the year). 'Speak Now' went top 10 and that was just on the back of a #30 single.

50k-75k, that should be enough for #1 that week right? I'm not sure if it can manage quite that amount or not but it is a Q4 release and the Ed Sheeran feature can't hurt, she has pretty broad appeal.

I hope she gets that no1 although I have to admit I haven't listenned to the whole album yet + 1st single was possibly her worst to date. She's done lots of promo and she is releasing on a super-easy week. It is a bit of 'NOW OR NEVER' really. (I expect 70k-ish sales)

I can't see Mumford's 5th week sales being anything like high enough to threaten her.

I wonder if she could shift 1m+ 1st week in America, though?

I'm hoping Music Week will come up with those after it charts.

(which JB also had when he got to #1 earlier in the year)

I don't see how that's relevant? I mean I agree with the rest of your post but this comparison is pointless.

I get the feeling that her promo for Speak Now was more intensive than RED but her recent releases of Red have super-charted there (possibly much better than most of them deserved) so she is definitely in perfect shape.

It is Taylor Swift in the US so I would say yes. (shouldn't be too far from the million mark anyway)

I think she will. There has been some country backlash but whilst she may be losing them she's gaining more fans to make up for it. The lead single has been much bigger than 'Mine' and he promo singles all seem to be doing 300k+ (with the current one heading for 400k). Not so sure about promo but she is doing a concert on 'Good Morning America' the week of release.

The fact that promo singles could potentially help sales (giving people a bigger taste of the album).

He hit #1 but he had very poor sales. He's really not a good example of promo singles helping album sales.

At that time, 38k was pretty good for a #1 album, especially considering what albums sold to get to #1 between then and the Olympics...

I think and hope it'll be #1, with sales of 50-75k.

I really hope it's #1, it's easily my most anticipated album all year and from what we've heard it could be the album of the year... I think she can do it actually, she won't need exactly earth shattering sales but I'm sure she can do 50-75k, the promo singles have all been different so far so have helped widen appeal and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together being so big has widened her pop audience.

The sales were good in comparison to other albums but for him it was an underperformance. The summer slump was down to no big sellers being released, not people refusing to buy albums - it can't be used to excuse Justin's poor sales.

But for all we know his sales could've been even worse without them.

And for all we know they made no difference whatsoever.

I hope it misses the Top 10 even though it's very unlikely.

Personally I hate this kind of teen cheesy pop flavoured with the awful country influence.

Can't stand her. It'll most likely be #1 though. :(

I'm surprised at how such a sweet friendly girl can raise such a strong reaction, but never mind...

Unusual to see more people *thinking* an artist will be #1, than *wanting* it to happen - normally it's the opposite.
