There are so many factors that go into making a song number 1, so thinking that it would go to number 1 because Cheryl is on it is illogical I'm afraid. Her presence has not guaranteed GA number 1s in the past and Cheryl and GA are different brands. The Flood sold about half what Candy did for Robbie yet Robbie was in Take That. You have to have the right hit song at the end of the day and you have to give the fans who buy into your brand what they want as they have their specific needs and trends. They may favour a specific style etc.

The only factor of concern here is that the Girls Aloud song is just plain rubbish.

Why people thought it would hit #1 in the first place is beyond me, I'm amazed its even in the top 5.

GA song isn't good and also olly murs song isn't his best to be fair but i think olly will be mid week number 1 but 1d or lab will be number 1 by the end of the week.

I very much doubt it.

GA will not be doing Cheryl numbers this week so that line of thinking has been proven illogical, with that in mind I don't know why you are still bringing it up. Your post is highlighting my point, so many people used Cheryl's sales as a barometer for GA, but they are two separate entities. In reality it was a group with an unknown current fanbase against an artist with a proven one. Something new just isn't that good a song, it's not even top 10 in GA's discography. GA would need a Sound of the underground to beat Olly this week, but a new band would struggle to get a top 10 with Something new.

I wasn't saying you were wrong ;) but I didn't think it was that ilogical since she's a member of that band (I didn't think about Robbie and Take That, so you're right there)

I really thought GA would be doing better to be honest, I am not saying beating Olly Murs but I wasn't expecting for them to be 55% behind him on Tuesday.... I am not even sure the girls will sell more than 75,000 this week.

Olly Murs will get it easily I think - am I really the only one so far that thinks he'll beat GA?

First person to get it right, woo?

I thought this as well but i was suspended at that time so i couldn't vote or comment on it.
