Officially #4 in America.

Coming in at No. 4 is the only debut in the top 10: Britney Spears' "Britney Jean." The diva collects her ninth top 10 set with the arrival, as the album bows with 107,000. That's a bit smaller than the industry forecast, which pegged it to start around 115,000 to 120,000.

The new effort is the singer's eighth studio album, and follows the No. 1 debut of 2011's "Femme Fatale" (276,000). All of her studio efforts have reached the top four of the chart. (She additionally earned a top 10 set with a best-of album, "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative," which went to No. 4.)

"Britney Jean" logs Spears' lowest sales debut for a studio set. Previously, her 1999 debut album, ". . . Baby One More Time," tallied her smallest start: 121,000.

"Britney Jean's" lead single, "Work B**ch!," peaked at No. 14 on the Pop Songs airplay chart (known as Mainstream Top 40 on Billboard.biz) and spent eight weeks on the list. It's the diva's lowest-charting lead single from a studio set since 2001's "I'm a Slave 4 U" (from "Britney") went to No. 15. The eight-week run of "Work" on the chart is the shortest visit to the list for any of Spears' lead-off tracks from a studio album.

A week after "Work" fell off the tally, the second single from "Britney Jean," "Perfume," debuted. This week, in its fourth chart week, it climbs 27-22 (up 34% in spins). The music video for "Perfume" premiered Dec. 10.

#22 in France and 'Work Bitch' actually did alright there. The US still loves her so much more than anywhere else.
I feel this era is dead on arrival :(, such a shame cause I am really enjoying it, but I just don't like the way it's flopping.
I feel Work Bitch alienated her fanbase, it was just the wrong lead single. FF had HIAM which had pretty much universal approval.

With very high sales for such a position 12,589

FF opened with 15k #4 debut..

You're right, that's actually pretty good! Probably the closest she got to matching FF's sales anywhere.

yeah, France are always very supportive her biggest European market, hopefully that album will rise in top 10 somehow.

Debuted at #36 in The Netherlands :(

her lowest charting studio album ever

Britney is on 'Surprise Surprise' in the UK on Saturday. Any idea what she's doing or when this was filmed?
What is "Surprise Surprise"?

Basically the host surprises members of the public by reuniting them with lost family members, meeting celebs etc... Apparently Britney's bit was filmed when she was in the UK in October and filmed at her hotel.

If only she'd performed :( 'Surprise Surprise' has boosted a few songs that have been performed on the show :(

I just don't understand why everyone is still going on about sales, when Britney has made it blatantly obvious, she doesn't. If she were running around promoting and performing everywhere, this would be a different story.

Not ONE promo performance. And in 90% of the interviews she is promoting Vegas. I think "BJ" is for the fans, not just because it's personal... But, because it's to get fans hyped for Vegas and to see it include new songs. Also, because she will be in Vegas for two years, and is planning on taking a hiatus after that.

So, I'm not bothered with it, I like the music... So I'm happy. With that being said. When she does release her next album... she better come with some promo, or it will flop harder than Jessica Simpsons country album... Lol, not really, but close.

OK, so how did 'Now That I Found You' and 'Brightest Morning Star' not make it to the main tracklist? Yet 'It Should Be Easy', 'Chillin' With You' and 'Don't Cry' did? If those two were on there in place of 2 of those it would be a pretty much PERFECT album.

I agree. NTIFY and BMS should have replaced CWY and DC.

Because a deluxe edition would be pretty pointless with "It Should Be Easy" and "Chillin' With You" as bonus tracks.

I suppose the fact they're collaborations would be enough of a pull for the hardcore fans without sacrificing the quality of the main album.

She has a habit of doing this as well, 'Scary' was easily better than any of the Femme Fatale album tracks too.
