MAKE ME WANNA SCREAM- BLU CANTRELL

PEAK POSITION: 24

SALES: 22K

FOLLOW UP TO: BREATHE

This made No 6 in Romania, that’s the good news. Not so good news however is that in reality it rather bombed here, but again it was a release delayed until December! Why Blu Cantrell? Anyway the song is pretty much same old same old, cheating boyfriend gets dumped etc, but by 2003 this kind of ground had been pretty exhaustively covered by Destiny’s Child on a bi-monthly basis.

MURDER SHE WROTE- CHAKA DEMUS & PLIERS

Whilst at home earlier this year I watched five episodes of “Murder She Wrote” back to back and quite enjoyed it- real zone out TV, reminded me of my childhood. As with all those kind of shows death rather seems to follow her around, I’d get suspicious If I were her, more importantly why does no-one think that IT IS HER?! Oh the song, yes it failed coz it’s dire.

ILLEGAL- SHAKIRA

“You said you would love me until you die, as far as I know you’re still alive”- I like that kind of callous honesty but that’s about all this has going for it. After the inescapable “Hips Don’t Lie” this came and went before many of us could blink, we clearly love party Shakira, sad Shakira less so.

I quite like this

As mentioned, that Blu Catrell song was doomed. Shame as she had a big voice and potential. What she doing now?

Chaka Demus and Pliers.....decent track but the regaee buzz was dying off in 1994. "Illegall" - This was a hit across Europe as "La Tortura" but her voice does grate A LOT in this track. Shame she sings shite with that tosser Pitbull.

I didn't know it was them who made this song, i've heard this loads of times but i thought it was done more recently than 1993/1994.

Blu released a song on iTunes earlier this year and is apparently working on an album for release in 2013...The single went unnoticed and so will the album!

I love "Illegal". It was destined to flop in the UK no matter what, since radio avoided her like the plague.

*Eagerly awaits Steve Brookstein*
I'm only on the second page at the moment but surely Owl City has to be the biggest flop with his follow-up to 'Fireflies'.

"Illegal" was # 1 in my personal charts and "Hips Don't Lie" didn't reach top 40.

I like her ballads more, than dance tracks.

The Script's 'Six Degrees Of Separation' is looking like one of these at the moment, it could take off yet but only #81 thus far.

How a man can record MORE songs post death than he did when he was alive is beyond me but somehow 2Pac’s apparently managed it, I’m sure there at least 15 full albums still to be released over the next decade.

Sometimes being remembered for one song is a little harsh, and sometimes being remembered for an entire career of crap is equally unfair, here’s an example. I’m going to give a couple of points for the title being so appalling and another couple for the evil video but detracting them all for the god awful song. This deserved to bomb on every level.

NO ORDINARY MORNING/ HALCYON- CHICANE

Of all the records on this list this has to be my favourite, moody, atmospheric, and bittersweet, turn of the millennium dance. Quite why the British public saw fit to glaze over this FANTASTIC track should still be deemed a pop injustice, I must regrettably reach the conclusion that it was simply too GREAT for the public conscious to digest much like early Van Gogh.

MORAL OF THE STORY: GENIUS IS RARELY APPRECIATED AT THE TIME

Does make you wonder if 2Pac isn't really dead. But that is another discussion.

"Love them ho's" - Decent track but no "f*** It".

No Ordinary Morning is ten times the song that Don't Give Up was. Reminds me of Saint Etienne, absolutely gorgeous track.
