Room 5 ft Oliver Cheatham - I hated "Make Luv" and was shocked the singer was old compared to the cartoon where he was portrayed as young! No time for this follow-up too.

"Songbird" is a GORGEOUS song...Eva should have been #1 with this not "What a wonderful world" - stupid public.

The video to "Cry Baby" with the oranges is making me hungry LOL.....awful track though.

MORAL OF THE STORY: I DOUBT SHE CARES

MORAL OF THE STORY: Who is Katie Melua? and what has she done with my tapes?

Edited by Pablo Escobar

Eva's voice is amazing.

Even guys as me, which like Scooch and Cheeky Girls don't deny her huge talent.

I have a soft spot for Over The Rainbow and Fields Of Gold. ^_^[/size]

Of all the Over the Rainbow covers I've heard, Eva's version is definitely the best!

I always listen to it around Christmas time as well, because that's when you can really get into it! :D

I have to agree. First time I ever heard Eva's version of 'SOTR' was on Now 48! (track 1 on CD 2) and I got goosebumps listening to it. It had this weird ability to make me stop what I was doing and actually listen. Quite simply a stunning version.

LAURA- JIMMY NAIL

Could Jimmy Nail be a popstar these days? Unlikely, well he was unlikely back in 1992 I can tell you, the awful vocal on “Ain’t No Doubt” didn’t stop it getting to the top but it was gimmickY and memorable. Follow up “Laura” isn’t bad actually, better vocals that evidence that he can sing, but it’s rather plain.

Ah was there anyone around in early 2010 who didn’t like “Fireflies”? (OK I’m asking for a barrage of posts saying yes I know) and here’s the equally cutesy follow up which is quite endearing though nowhere near as radio friendly. It does however have the honour of being the highest place track on this rundown not to make the top 75.

The most unsuccessful follow up to a No 1 in three years it was perhaps always going to be the case for such an elusive popstar as Jyoti Mishra who even at the time, if memory serves, didn’t appear in newspapers or TOTP so without the oxygen of promotion or a quirky sample this fell on its ass.

There's not many tracks which can make you stop in your tracks, but her version certainly does!

Yes, it's a very calming song and really nice to listen to when it's snowing, which weird considering it has "rainbow" in its title.

*pedant/loon* Vanilla Twilight was an album track that charted well IIRC, over here at least, it was a single in America, Umbrella Beach was supposed to be the followup in the UK but peaked about 100 places lower *pedant/loon*

Not that it matters, I do tend to consider VT second and UB third anyway but it's interesting how the latter did so much worse. There's probably very little sales info for it, if any, I'm surprised VT's sold 7k to be honest.

Lovely track though, both of them, nothing like the highs of Fireflies but particularly Vanilla Twilight is really emotional, really should have smashed and kept him afloat. :(

FOLLOW UP TO: SHOW ME HEAVEN

Not a bad song at all, but problem was it had no Hollywood blockbuster to back it up! Who’d a thought Tom Cruise could ever be an asset but so it proved. It was released into a cold January market so no real obvious reason as to why it failed to capture our imagination other than it is perhaps too stark and depressing to compete with the likes of C & C Music Factory and its ilk.

Another track which is here by deception really. This was never given a proper full UK Release and charted on imports whilst “It’s Like That” was still at No 1, but one would have thought, given the clear demand for the product and that fact that it was a big hit in many European countries, a full release would have been forthcoming. It wasn’t to be and so the collaboration ends up on our list of shame.

Dance is a genre, perhaps more than most, when the likelihood of a flop follow up is more likely. Perhaps this may be because the sole existence of your track is to capture attention in clubs and if it fails to do that then the wider market never really knows it’s out there lessening the chances of a hit. This is awful mind you and not a patch on “Loneliness” so let’s not analyse that concept too much!

Incidentally we have 17 tracks left so we'll be done in under a week.
Gezza, have you got any more threads lined up after this one, just out of curiosity? You're doing a great job with every one!

That was definately the case. Umbrella Beach was second single in the UK, I remember in its release week it was something like #6 on radio airplay too (mentioned in a sales report I think, unless I'm making it up?). Good song though!
