An article on the Icelandic broadcaster's website has confirmed that the following artists will be in the national selection:

Magni Asgeirsson, Johanna Gudrun Jonsdottir, Birgitta Haukdal and Klara desire Elíasdóttir be among performers at this year's song contest.
(Translated from Icelandic)

Yohanna is back!!!! :cheer:

THANK HEAVENS. She'll doubtless lose out to some entirely undeserving untimely death but her presence is WELCOME at least.

Hreindís Ylva Garðarsdóttir Hólm and Erna Hrönn Ólafsdóttir are entering too!

I'll be interested to hear Unnur Eggertsdóttir's entry as well seeing as it's written by Eliza Newman.

So Magni basically won, didn't he? HE SHOULD HAVE LAST YEAR.

ESC Today has now revealed the full line-up of the two semi finals!

RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster, has revealed the names of the twelve artists who will compete in the national selection for this year's Eurovision Song Contest. The lineup includes various familiar names such as Yohanna (the country's representative in 2009) and Birgitta Haukdal (the country's representative in 2003).

This is what the full lineup of Söngvakeppnin 2013 looks like :

Semi final 1 (25 January)

1. Magni Ásgeirsson - Ekki líta undan

2. Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson - Ég á líf

3. Svavar Knútur Kristinsson and Hreindís Ylva Garðarsdóttir Hólm - Lífið snýst

4. Birgitta Haukdal - Meðal andanna

5. Edda Viðarsdóttir - Sá sem lætur hjartað ráða för

6. Yohanna - Þú

Semi final 2 (26 January)

1. Erna Hrönn Ólafsdóttir - Augnablik

2. Unnur Eggertsdóttir - Ég syng!

3. Klara Ósk Elíasdóttir - Skuggamynd

4. Sylvía Erla Scheving - Stund með þér

5. Jógvan Hansen and Stefanía Svavarsdóttir - Til þín

6. Haraldur Reynisson - Vinátta

Three songs will qualify via televoting from each semi final for the national final. The producers retain the right to award a wildcard, if necessary. During the final which will be held on 2 February, the jury and the televoters will jointly decide which two songs will proceed to a Super Final. The winner will then be decided by 100% televoting.

All songs will be presented on 14 January on Channel 2 and will also be made available to listen to online.

Semi 1 looks like a bloodbath! Fantastic to see Yohanna and Birgitta back, in fact I'm probably more excited by the latter :D

Yohanna singing a song named... 'You'?! Talk about anti-climax.

Great they got rid of the third Semi. It's looking much NEATER now. Magni and Yohanna are going through the first Semi no matter what songs they have really. Birgitta I don't know... she participated in Eurovision literally 10 years ago after all

Jógvan participating for the 3rd time in 4 years... worse for Magni as he's doing the third year in a row :D DESPERATION ISN'T SEXY.

It really does feel like Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2011 all over again, doesn't it? Haraldur, Erna, Yohanna, Jógvan and Magni (a THIRD of the 2011 line-up LOL) ALL participating 2 years later! And they ALL qualified in 2011. Tough luck for all those other bitches.

...?

Yeah, because Nótt was SUCH an anti-climax. Are we really judging songs by their TITLE?

Nótt WAS anti-climatic for me. And it's just PRE-judgement. I would never go around genuinely judging songs by their title JEEZ Tirren.

Most of the songs are crap. 'Augnablik' is the only good one! :(

'Þú' is so unbelievably boring and dated. SO I WAS RIGHT TIRREN.

The intro and chorus of Magni's song are INCREDIBLE HOLY MOTHER OF CHRIST *.*

Birgitta's song has something about it but it's still quite boring structurally being ridiculously safe. The quiet bit towards the end followed by shouting and an big ass finale note? Blah.

'Augnablik'. Stunning. Just fucking stunning.

'Ég á líf' sounds nice but is a bit boring. The singer's voice is soothing and pretty relaxing. The use of traditional sound is dope though.

'Stund með þér'. YEP for the second year in a row. Only this time it's not sung by a crazy wildcard woman in a see-through red blouse with a black bra. Last year's 'Stund með þér' > 'Stund með þér' 2013 though. It's just nothing special really. But could potentially be a grower.

'Ég syng!' is tricky. I can't really say anything so far. It's weird, but a good kind of weird.

The rest when I get home from work ~

Love, you're listening to Eurovision. If you're going to start having problems with standard song structure you might as well GO HOME.
