If only there had been any warning that the site was to be taken down I would have saved every page of the ChartStats singles and album charts to my computer for my own personal use.

And OCC's response is to change their Facebook settings so that people can't post their concerns and delete all negative comments off the site.

 

Sadly this is how organisations hit back. you would expect this in Russia.

 

I suggest we all follow the Vodafone Big 40 chart.

I've also saved all the scans from that other site and all of the charts posted on another forum ;) So hopefully as long as I've got everything I'll be able to finish my project adding every good UK hit I can from the last 60 years to Spotify :)

Yeah, there was 3-4 adverts on the page with "download" on them! :P Then there was the correct one in which you didn't need to download anything at all!

Although still not the official chart, but to the laymans ears and eyes, not us chart experts, The Bg Top 40 has had Olly Murs at #1 all week, and the official chart is bringing up the rear as Sunday Greg will announce it being the new #1, I suspect a new release, released Sunday morning will vie for #1 on the BT40, as I said on Haven, the record companies arn't silly, they start to release their songs Sunday morning, and they end up getting some good promotion for the song when it ends up being announced by Rich & Kat with the act as a special guest either in studio or on the phone as number 1 Sunday afternoon on the UK's most listened to Chart Show on over 100 local radio stations, I doubt the listener figures will increase when the new female presenter takes over on R1

The Big Top 40 uses this to their advantage, and try to court the laymens people in to thinking the Official Charts are out of date.

It won't take long, but I suspect that another website will be up an running with UK charts soon, someone is bound to try their luck and post up a charts service.

 

What would be the point though unless they do it from outside the UK? Any site that gets noticed is going be cracked down on by the OCC legal team. If ChartStats could not survive when it had no ads, no site will.

 

I wonder how long the remaining places where you can get chart info will last - OCC legal team are probably looking up the home addresses of the owners right now. I think we are about to see another major casualty of this OCC crackdown - another very popular site.

Tell them why you think the music industry gains from people being able to look at historic charts. Refer to the 60th anniversary and the fact that the OCC have been trying to revive interst in the charts. That can include a reference to the special charts they have published over the last few weeks.

Now that OCC are censoring free speech you can air your views here. There is not much on there at the moment. I want to get as many people together and get some serious discussions going about what we can do to get OCC to put the full past UK Charts on their website for free.
