I just think it looks bad on us as a country that we don't take anything as seriously as other countries. I would ADORE it, if we had our own Melodifestivalen or Melodi Grand Prix type thing.

THIS.

I always imagined the BBC would do a Semifinal per country. Welsh songs in Semi 1, Scottish on Semi 2... Second Chance round and a Final full of precious British compositions. :w00t:

I can imagine Amy Macdonald trying for Scotland every year like Claudia Faniello in Malta. I can see the English semifinal being a bloodbath.

Would NEVER happen. The BBC would rather chuck it's money at failed Saturday evening shows such as "Britain's Brightest". Let's face it..they are not interested in Eurovision. I think there is a deliberate reason for the bad results. They don't want us to win/host and are probably slowly pulling us out of it.

I didn't say it would/will happen. I was just daydreaming. Imagine if we had our own Melodifestivalen!

In Portugal we had a selection final as big as MF. This was in the 70s, through the 80s and it died in the 90s. They brought it back in 2006 but it was never the same thing.

Apparently Ed Brody (chief of PR for BBC Eurovision) is at television centre for a meeting today, possibly to sort out final preparations? Also, Alexandra and her family (particularly her brother I think) who are usually very quick to stop wrong rumours have been particularly quiet recently. I think I'm just hoping too much but you never know! :kink:

Why on earth would they pull us out of a contest which gives them a guaranteed 6m+ (10m+ if they pull their finger out...) viewers on a Saturday night for just £250k? It's an absolute bargain for the BBC.

It's more the fact that the UK music taste isn't really the same as most of Europe's

Alexandra's brother just said on twitter Alex isn't doing Eurovision

Ah finally, I wonder what took him so long!

Joss Stone then please, or Paloma - but I don't think Paloma would do it at all! There's a very small chance Joss might I guess.

There's a couple of other people we can cross off that list - Mika recently signed up for festival dates that clash with Malmo, and Gamu was asked on twitter if she's doing Eurovision, and she said no.

I'm still hoping for Paloma, Olly Murs - or hopefully if Graham Norton was pulling our leg - i'd like it to be Dido :D

Going with the artist being Bonnie Tyler, the song being a power ballad/radio 2 friendily and a track on Bonnie's new album having a "Radio Edit" 3:01 minutes long, there is a strong possibility that THIS is the UK Eurovision Entry.

Has Bonnie been played on Graham's show over the past 4 weeks though?

At least that's not a bad song!

Still hoping for someone who has working vocal chords. Or that the BBC have discovered time travel and brought the Bonnie Tyler from the 80s to sing a Total Eclipse pastiche.

I've not seen her mentioned in any of the lists people have compiled, but then I would not at all be surprised if he was wrong about that clue altogether - seems like a typical BBC faux pas to make!
I thought she was interviewed at one point (and would have resulted in Graham playing a song). I'd think if she hadn't been played, we'd all have breathed a sigh of relief long ago.

Oh GOD.

I'll wait til we hear the song (if that one above isn't indeed the song, which would be new heights of lazy for the BBC) but the name Bonnie Tyler really doesn't excite me at all.

So unless she's been missed off by accident, or Graham got the clue wrong, Bonnie shouldn't be our entrant... It seems the last time she was played on his show was November 2012.

If we are going with Bonnie then I demand one of the commercial break segments be Lynda Woodruf doing an interview with Bonnie after she's downed a whole bottle of Red.
