Can we NOT have fucking Gabrielle Aplin at #1 please. Of all the possibilities that's by far the worst.

By far the best possibility!! It would be one of the best #1s of the year for me easily, such a beautiful version of the song!

Only the UK could have preferred Tulisa to Pink. Then again, I suppose Try has been out for a long time now.

I prefer Tulisa's song, but I'm pretty sure Pink's song will sell more overall.

If Gabrielle Aplin can prevent Bruno Mars from making #1, I'm all for it.

I know a few people on here said she may get a week, but I never thought it stood a chance. Quite surprised!

Finally someone who talks sense!! That abomination of a song is far too loved here

I still think Gabrielle will wear off slightly as the week goes on and Bruno or Olly will just about take the number 1 spot in the end.

Tulisa looking like missing the top 10 again? wonderful, just as hideous as her other releases.

Hopefully Tulisa can stay away from the top 10, what a cretin.

Do you know what "cretin" means?

I don't get all this hatred towards Tulisa as a person  I get people feeling strongly about not wanting a song to do well, but it just seems a little childish to attack her as a person.

I can't imagine what the hatred will be like when/if N-Dubz reform and enter the charts :drama:

I don't either (not just with her, but people like Alexandra Burke, Estelle, Cher Lloyd, One Direction, etc.). I try not to take people too seriously, after all, this is a forum where I've seen more than one person say they wish 50 Cent was dead.

Why does that Gabrielle shit have to be #1? I agree with Bre - I'd rather Olly, Labrinth or especially Bruno at #1 instead.

And why is there so much Bruno hate in this thread? Obviously everyone has their own opinion, but I can't understand why someone would choose to listen to Gabrielle's version of TPOL over Bruno's new song.

I love the original but I absolutely despise her version.

Really? Some people have a real problem in their lives then.

The problem comes from the increased usage if words such as "shite" "shit" "chav" and other inflammatory words etc which I've noticed has increased over the 6 months or so- these are emotive words that spark reaction in other posters and contribute to a much more "adversarial" tone to threads. I'm not getting specifically at you (though obviously you have used one of those words and I'm quoting you  ) but I'm sure you get the general point.

In relation to TPOL, I confess I downloaded it because it's a nice version of the song. As for Bruno Mars I think he's become so ubiquitous since 2010 that a backlash by folk was kinda inevitable to some degree? :o

The Royal Varitey show tomorrow night is another big ratings show which The Power of Love could benefit from!

Plus every song of his is dreadful and I can't stand his whiny voice.

Exactly, there's nothing wrong with the Frankie Goes To Hollywood version but Gabrielle's is bland, boring and frankly I'd rather jump off a cliff than be subjected to the full song (thankfully I've only heard snippets/still haven't seen the John Lewis advert).
