So this song by Toni Braxton's sister, Tamar, has blown up BIG time in the States. It's at #1 on iTunes over there and it's made a dent inside the UK iTunes top 100 at #90, currently. Lady GaGa has tweeted to her "monsters" to go and listen to it/buy it or whatever and it's helped it out quite hugely! (Although it was top 10 in the US before GaGa tweeted about it I think!).

 

 

It's a nice little song. Nice to get some old school R&B back in the charts and none of this R&B/Dance crossover sort of tracks!

Of ALL the people to bring back real R&B, who would've put money on TAMAR?

 

Pretty great song. Also doing well at radio! Somewhere Toni is weeping into her bankruptcy receipts.

 

Oh yes, this is the R&B I like. Surprised it's doing so well.

Two problems with the OP:

 

1. The song was #4 on iTunes when Lady Gaga tweeted about it lol. It has nothing to do with her, it would've got #1 anyway. Lady Gaga's Twitter followers hate urban music anyway. :lol:

2. In the past 2 years the only person that has successfully released an R&B/pop crossover track in the US is T-Pain/Lily Allen/Wiz Khalifa. Nobody else has done it, that type of music hasn't been dominating for years.

 

Also, the song will be out of the top 10 on iTunes by this time next week never to be seen again. However, I've listened to Tamar's next single, and it's even better than this imo!! It reminds me a bit of Milkshake by Kelis. The song actually IS potentially an R&B crossover track, and is extremely catchy. To be honest, I think it's her next single which is more likely to blow up than this. I hope she does well this time around. :wub:

i like her voice, the song is ok but her voice is really good. Deep and smooth and soft :)
