December 25, 201212 yr James and PSY are the two most likely IMO... (assuming by 'first #1 of 2013' we mean this week) Edited December 25, 201212 yr by Michael Bubré
December 25, 201212 yr James and PSY are the two most likely IMO... (assuming by 'first #1 of 2013' we mean this week) I was more thinking about the week after. However, if I was to go by this week, James Arthur has a shot (as much as how much I hate the song :puke2: ). As for Psy, he will virtually get outsold by Will.i.am/Britney or Bruno Mars this week. These two songs have been gaining sales.
December 25, 201212 yr If PSY did it, he'd set some kind of record for longest gap between #1 spans in a single chart run (i.e. no re-issues) I take it? I think he'll go back as high as #2/3 but James/will.iam and Britney will be #1 this week and then the latter definitely will be the week after.
December 26, 201212 yr I dont agree w/ any of you. Theres no way S&S will have the longevity after this week (which I think was its greatest chance at #1). It will stay put well in the top 5 for a while but (like in most countries) had a rapid rise, stayed steady for a bit then fell cause its just not that good lol
December 26, 201212 yr I'd think its going to be between Psy and James Arthur, TJC has fallen quite a bit, but I expect it to be still top 3 or top 5 though with Physicals. I'm more siding with Psy the track is just more of a party track get played more over the weekend. I don't think Will and Britney stand a chance of #1 this week, maybe next week.
December 26, 201212 yr I f***ing hate 'Gangman Style' and always go out for a cigarette when it's played in clubs, it makes me want to kill a kitten

December 26, 201212 yr Well at least the masterpiece should see a big New Year boost - if it's still in contention over the weekend then it could easily claim #1 next week.
December 27, 201212 yr I thought the first number one of 2013 would be next week's number one, as in the first song to be announced as number one in 2013 - not the song currently reigning at number one when New Years Day arrives.
December 27, 201212 yr This week: James Arthur will (unfortunately) do it. Next week will surely be 'Scream and Shout'? It hasnt fallen away as much as people predicted it would with the gift card effect (where it would usually harm newer releases) joint with the advert which seems to be getting a bit of airtime, as well as a-lost rotation on radio 1 and the like in full swing. I'm really struggling to see it as anything else  Skylar Grey to realease this week and smash with sales of 300k please! ;P
December 27, 201212 yr It probably will be will.i.am next week but PSY could still do it with a boost from New Year's parties etc.
