I'm the only one who finds dreadfully boring then?

 

I haven't heard it myself but my daughter who loves Ghost was extremely disappointed with it. She found it too same year and boring and felt they were giving her a sound too old for her.

12. Lay Down 5/10 (I expect this to grow on me - didn't stand out as much as The First Time and All Again)

13. Missed 9/10 (LOVE this! I didn't watch Ella when she was on X-Factor but saw her audition of this on Youtube. Definitely one of the best written on the album!)

2. Empire 6/10

Aside from that, it's a good album for a debut :wub:

She wont be on XF due to Taylor Swift and Pharrell :( I hope she does a post album single and gets to promote it there!

I think X-Factor will be a cert for Ella, even if it is a rather late performance of Glow.

 

EDIT: Even if she gets an appearance by giving some of those in the girls category advice or something I'll be satisfied, get that exposure! :cheer:

Mirror Man is DEFINITELY an album favourite. Empire has gone up in my estimations ever so slightly, as well.

Empire, Ghost, Glow & Mirror Man are the only ones I can bare. Utter yawn fest of an album. Very underwhelmed.

I think a lot of the ballads are quite samey on 'Chapter One' and I think that stops the album being essential listening but the high points certainly outweigh the negatives. Ghost, Empire (needs to be single 3), Glow, Rockets, Give Your Heart Away, Pieces and Billie Holiday are my personal highlights.

By the way, here is the acoustic 'Chapter One Sessions' version of 'Believe' that is only available when you pre-order the album. It is incredible!

At first listen last Tuesday when we could stream it, I really didn't like it but now after a few listens I hope she releases this over the Christmas period as her first ballad release :wub:
