And my fears of the new album being a big disappointment plummet even further. Looks like it should be pretty damned good :cheer:

It's just average though really, isn't it? If it were on any of their first three albums, I'd certainly skip it.

It is rather rubbish.

Well barriers has well and truly clicked with me now. Haven't heard this properly yet though.

Bloodsports - well worth the wait. A fantastic album.

Excellent review of a warm-up gig and interview with Brett and Mat in today's Guardian.

Sorry, I got four tracks in and hadn't heard anything exciting so switched it off.

It's probably too much to ask for some drama or danger on this Suede album, considering it's over 18 years since they had any.

That's just it - I've moved on, happy to say so.

Something rather strange happened today. After Brett was (mis)quoted in The Sun, noted popular star Robbie Williams took offense in a rather bizarre manner:

What does he have against Geneva & Chapterhouse? Although I guess he just copied & pasted that list from Wikipedia.

 

Although to his credit, he did go on to later apologise and said he enjoyed Bloodsports. Might get the new album a few more sales.

Williams is an absolute dick. That list is more like the list of bands he was up the arse of just after he left Take That. Twat.

There were some magnificent pop bands in the 90s - he's right. Take That weren't one of them. And to state that One Direction excite more people that Suede ever did means nothing. Suede music (1992 - 1994, and to be generous 1996) will still be exciting people when the successor to the successor to the successor to One Direction have come and gone.

 

 

There were lots of shite so called indie bands in the 90s but they were still preferable to most of the pop bands.

This album is solid enough, considering!

 

I did think they'd completely lost it with A New Morning and didn't think they'd ever get it back, and although this doesn't match up to anything pre A New Morning it's still an impressive piece of work.

 

Also, I know it's to be expected but you can really tell how much Brett has lost the youthfulness in his vocals.

Robbie Williams doesn't know shit - how can anyone stick Ride, Chapterhouse, Adorable, Curve, Cud or Kingmaker in there? These bands all paved the way for the situation he's described and were largely gone by the time 'Britpop' arrived. He's right about Hurricane #1, but Ride remain the only good band Andy Bell has ever been associated with...

Ah, I notice he didn't mention Oasis (or was it just that one album?) because they were the act that took three chord guitar w*** overground. I guess he probably thinks his association with them when he was fat, tracksuited and bleach-blonde led to their success?
