February 2, 201312 yr The video for new single 'It Starts and Ends With You' has dropped: D54iGj64dis Wonderful.
February 3, 201312 yr And my fears of the new album being a big disappointment plummet even further. Looks like it should be pretty damned good :cheer:
February 3, 201312 yr It's just average though really, isn't it? If it were on any of their first three albums, I'd certainly skip it.
February 4, 201312 yr Well barriers has well and truly clicked with me now. Haven't heard this properly yet though.
March 1, 201312 yr I look forward to you playing it in full on your programme next week (assuming you turn up this time) :D
March 5, 201312 yr I cant wait to hear their new album. both official releases so far ("BARRIERS" & "IT STARTS...") are GREAT!
March 6, 201312 yr Excellent review of a warm-up gig and interview with Brett and Mat in today's Guardian.
March 13, 201312 yr Sorry, I got four tracks in and hadn't heard anything exciting so switched it off.
March 13, 201312 yr It's probably too much to ask for some drama or danger on this Suede album, considering it's over 18 years since they had any.
March 20, 201312 yr Something rather strange happened today. After Brett was (mis)quoted in The Sun, noted popular star Robbie Williams took offense in a rather bizarre manner: JUST MUSING ON A SUPPOSED BRETT ANDERSON QUOTE FROM TODAY'S SUN BRETT SAYS AND I QUOTE: "There has always been cr*p pop music. I remember when we had all the crap boybands in the 90s — stuff like that has always been around. The lack of money in the music industry created a crisis. Record companies don't have the resources to take a gamble, so these pop stars are created by committee." NOW THIS WAS AT THE HEIGHT OF WHAT WAS BRITPOP AND MAINSTREAM INDIE. RECORD COMPANIES DON'T/DIDN'T HAVE THE RESOURCES TO GAMBLE? I THINK NOT … ANY QUARTER-DECENT 3 CHORD KNOBHEADS COULD AND DID GET A DEAL IN THE 90'S …. I WON'T NAME NAMES COS IT WOULD BE UNFAIR ON ECHOBELLY, SHED 7, SYMPOSIUM, MENSWEAR, SLEEPER, HURRICANE NUMBER 1, RIDE, THE BLUETONES (APART FROM THAT ONE SONG), OCEAN COLOUR SCENE (APART FROM THAT ONE SONG...HANG ON NAH NOT EVEN THAT SONG) NORTHERN UPROAR, CHAPTERHOUSE, CURVE, SALAD, ADORABLE, CUD, SPACEHOG, KULA SHAKER, THE AUDIENCE, POWDER, KING MAKER, GENEVA (SUB-SUEDE - CAN YOU IMAGINE?) - SHOULD I GO ON? COS I CAN AND THEY SURE f***ING DID THERE WERE A FEW SPECIAL INDIE BANDS THEN JUST AS THERE ARE IN EVERY GENERATION …. AND JUST AS SOME POP BANDS ARE USELESS, SOME ARE MAGNIFICENT IN EVERY GENERATION I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TOO BIGOTED TO APPRECIATE THE LATTER THE WORLD'S A LOT MORE EXCITING WITH A ONE DIRECTION IN IT AND MORE HEARTS WILL GENUINELY RACE AT A NEW 1D ALBUM THAN THEY EVER HAVE OR WILL AT ANY SUEDE ALBUM IN ANY TIME PERIOD SORRY ABOUT THE TRUTH PLEASE SAY HELLO TO YOUR DRUMMER HE WAS CONSISTENTLY LOVELY WITH ME YOURS IN POP ROBBIE WILLIAMS What does he have against Geneva & Chapterhouse? Although I guess he just copied & pasted that list from Wikipedia. Although to his credit, he did go on to later apologise and said he enjoyed Bloodsports. Might get the new album a few more sales.
March 21, 201312 yr Williams is an absolute dick. That list is more like the list of bands he was up the arse of just after he left Take That. Twat.
March 21, 201312 yr There were some magnificent pop bands in the 90s - he's right. Take That weren't one of them. And to state that One Direction excite more people that Suede ever did means nothing. Suede music (1992 - 1994, and to be generous 1996) will still be exciting people when the successor to the successor to the successor to One Direction have come and gone. There were lots of shite so called indie bands in the 90s but they were still preferable to most of the pop bands. Edited March 21, 201312 yr by AnthonyT
March 21, 201312 yr This album is solid enough, considering! I did think they'd completely lost it with A New Morning and didn't think they'd ever get it back, and although this doesn't match up to anything pre A New Morning it's still an impressive piece of work. Also, I know it's to be expected but you can really tell how much Brett has lost the youthfulness in his vocals.
March 21, 201312 yr Robbie Williams doesn't know shit - how can anyone stick Ride, Chapterhouse, Adorable, Curve, Cud or Kingmaker in there? These bands all paved the way for the situation he's described and were largely gone by the time 'Britpop' arrived. He's right about Hurricane #1, but Ride remain the only good band Andy Bell has ever been associated with... Andy Bell.... Ah, I notice he didn't mention Oasis (or was it just that one album?) because they were the act that took three chord guitar w*** overground. I guess he probably thinks his association with them when he was fat, tracksuited and bleach-blonde led to their success?
May 30, 201312 yr The new video for "Hit Me", the current single from the album. Paint fights are always fun. H1FKJSgEoBQ
