Plenty of comebacks to be found, Biffy Clyro's first single since late 2010 - a slightly heavier track with a rather nice bagpipe solo (while not feeling too different from their work on Only Revolutions). Katy B's "Aaliyah" makes it on the chart, spawned from her impressive collab EP 'Danger', and also Bruno Mars' surprisingly good "Locked Out Of Heaven". Also making an appearance are recent singles from Ellie Goulding and Wave Machines

Not a bad track so far (although a couple I haven't heard). I was not expecting to see Michael Kiwanuka show his face in anyone's EOY :P 'Home Again' was on my longlist but didn't quite make the top 100, would be top 200. 'Figure 8' should be tons higher.

 

This is nothing to do with your EOY but are you going to join BJSC when registration re-opens (which is happening for the next contest I believe?) You are very much needed there.

Dan Croll scored a Top 10 hit on my chart a couple months back (big thanks to Doctor Blind for introducing me to it :D), while Scottish newcomers CHVRCHES land at #89 (still more of them to come later). Hurts sneak into the Top 100 with their recently-revealed track "The Road", hopefully a showcase of the quality to be found on their second album "Exile". Marina's change of sound continued with Primadonna, a track that seemed to win alot of people over, gaining her a decent-selling hit (before the era predictably entered flop territory). The first of two vocal-mixed Rustie singles, featuring up-and-coming duo AlunaGeorge (that build-up section just before the second chorus is just..WOW)

Yeah, Kiwanuka isn't really the type of act that Buzzjack would go crazy for :lol: Although i really thought Home Again had potential to be big

 

I'm definitely been thinking of joining BJSC recently (registration being open again is quite convenient :D). So yeah, i'll probably sign up soon

Aiden Grimshaw released one of the best X Factor alumni singles earlier this year, a dark pop song with a drum & bass influence. Bastille's "Bad Blood" is my first #1 on the countdown (although not the least successful; two others - Emeli Sandé (Next to Me) and Kimbra (Warrior) failed to make the cut). Southern Rock group Alabama Shakes and Swedish dance producer Otto Knows make the list, along with Florence + the Machine - although Ceremonials didn't really come close to the greatness of Lungs for me, "No Light, No Light" was proof that she could pull off the dramatic goth-pop sound with desirable results

This is the only Year End chart I've seen him on (apart from mine of course :P )

 

Loads of goodness so far, particularly loving "Hold On", "Gold On The Ceiling", "Disparate Youth", "Born To Die", "Hurricane", "DJ, Ease My Mind" etc.

 

Expecting/hoping for a "Default" win !

Excellent to see Dan Croll in here, 'From Nowhere' is superb. Also good to see Purity Ring, Katy B, Marina, Alabama Shakes and Santigold. Nothing I've heard that I dislike.

Plenty of approval for Dan Croll then :D The opening is amazing, kinda reminds me of Metronomy's "The Look" a wee bit

 

And yes DB, i can confirm that Default has finished VERY high (although i won't say much more than that)

Passion Pit's "Take A Walk", one of my biggest autumn hits, just misses a Top 50 place

Electro-pop star Ellie Goulding avoided the sophomore slump (kind of), and scored a #3 hit. Azealia Banks' hit "212" gained a top ten place at the beginning of the year, and one of the surprise smashes of the year - a Florence album track given the Calvin Harris treatment. Initially i wasn't sure about it, but the remix definitely won me over after a while. The rather low-peaking but still amazing-sounding dance instrumental from Madeon is at #47, followed by a first of two Jessie Ware appearances (Wildest Moments)

 

 

So so many good choices here, I'm sorry I haven't been commenting all the way through but more than every other song is a song I really love.
