December 24, 201212 yr :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: I'm looking forward to this, we both have very similar music tastes, so this should be good! :D
December 24, 201212 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/mzTXO.png At the time, 'Zaleilah' (the Romanian entry to Eurovision 2012) by Mandinga was my 2nd favourite Eurovision track of the year - and a song I couldn't stop listening to. It had that Inna sound, with the infectious accordion sound that really made me feel summery. Listening now back now, it's not really massively special, but the Eurovision tag made it sound even better. Still, a very good song, and just scrapes top 100! http://i.imgur.com/BiitW.png It's the first of the Melodifestivalen entries in this countdown here, following on from Mandinga at #100 who actually reached Eurovision! Stormande Hav sadly missed the finals of the show, missing out because of 2 shit songs. But, it hasn't missed out on my top 100 - and despite it not being as good as Kom, this track is still real good fun and I really love the whole feel of this. This track hasn't got old, I just don't listen to it quite as much these days. http://i.imgur.com/63NDg.png It was the return of Christina Aguilera, and unsurprisingly, it was another flop for her. 'Your Body' was so much better than 'Not Myself Tonight' - it had a booming chorus that demanded you to sing along, and I think it's really disappointing that such a pop stomper flopped as much as it did. But, it is Xtina, so like I say, no surprise at the flop. http://i.imgur.com/SIcSf.png Tulisa didn't have the most successful year after 'Young', but she's at least managed to score 2 top 100s in this chart - with 'Live It Up' just scraping the top 100 here. Young is much higher. Live It Up, on first listen, was a massive 'meh' moment. But, with more and more listens, I started to really love it. It has no chorus, and the lyrics are pretty awful, but I love the instrumental and the track is clearly good enough to me to feature in the top 100. http://i.imgur.com/dRU1Y.png The first of two Danny Saucedo entries enters here - with his Melodifestivalen smash, 'Amazing', still to come later. 'All In My Head' was a much anticipated 2nd single, and it didn't disappoint. It didn't match up to the heights of Amazing, but I didn't expect it to be quite as good - but it had one hell of a breakdown which really got sent me head over heels in love. I got over this fairly quickly, but for the time I loved, I *LOVED* it, so it seems fitting for it to appear here. Edited December 24, 201212 yr by Robot
December 25, 201212 yr #095 Nicki Minaj - Starships totes happening. Stop pretending you're a pop $l*t. You're indie-hearted child! Go listen to Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear and noise disguised as a song! Edited December 25, 201212 yr by CONΔERELLA
December 28, 201212 yr Your Body along with Dance Again is one of the most undeserving flops of the year. :(
December 28, 201212 yr Author Your Body along with Dance Again is one of the most undeserving flops of the year. :( I can assure you Dance Again is much much higher, and not a flop in my chart <3
December 28, 201212 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/EV8ls.png 'She Wolf' is the follow-up to 'Titanium', which was also by David Guetta & Sia. Now, Titanium doesn't actually appear in the 2012 list, because it was #64 2011 list. It would've been about Top 30 had I allowed it, but NO REPEATS ALLOWED. She Wolf is a very good song, with a crazy breakdown of all kinds of raveyness - but there's something missing that stops it being really good, it just doesn't really have THAT much oomph or excitement aside from the breakdown. Still, a very good song. http://i.imgur.com/BZeg3.png Rae Morris's track, 'Don't Go' is the first BJSC track to appear in this countdown - and was entered by FSR Rontvia. It received 8pts from me, but the 10 point song doesn't appear here. 'Don't Go' really struck a chord with me, as it was during a time when I found out my friend had cancer, so I took the song with my own meaning and listened so often to it. Beautiful song. http://i.imgur.com/tvXhb.png Justin Bieber was a guilty pleasure before this album, and I admittedly loved Baby. But, these days, it seems almost more acceptable to like Bieber - and this was a song that I immediately really liked. After about 2 listens, I thought 'ah, this is just easily his best song', as no other song of his had hit me so instantly. But, it never grew to become anything more for me, and therefore only sits at #93 in my End Of Year. http://i.imgur.com/3bHql.png The Script scored their first UK #01 this year with 'Hall Of Fame', though for me it's far from their best song. 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved', 'Breakeven' and 'For The First Time' are all gorgeous ballads that bring genuine emotion. This saw more of a powerful sound for The Script, that I grew to love with it's mass of play, despite it not comparing to the first 3. But, never the less, another very good track for them and well worthy of being in my top 100. http://i.imgur.com/k1s5l.png The second of the BJSC entries appears here, with many more to come (some of my own, some not). Paparazzi was an entry by Daehun, which received 12pts from us. We'd liked plenty of K-Pop tracks in the past, but this was the first one we really latched onto loving. It had all the ingredients of a catchy pop song, and the weird English words thrown in for the sake of it were part of it's charm, and still never fail to make me laugh.
January 1, 201312 yr Wow, VERY fancy countdown, the graphics must have taken quite a while! Amazed and really really pleased to see Don't Go here, I'm glad that you took to it so much, it proved I wasn't being mad sending it, I cannot believe that it was a point away from DNQ'ing!
January 1, 201312 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/LjMoz.png And here comes the first of 11 Nicki Minaj tracks to make the top 100 (if you include her features) - it's the gorgeous Marilyn Monroe. Part of me feels like I prefer this to some of the tracks by her a bit higher in the list, but it's one of those songs that despite how much you love it, you don't play it as often as you should. And, for that reason, the elegant Marilyn Monroe sits at #90, but contains one of my favourite lyrics: "if you can't handle my worst, you ain't getting my best." http://i.imgur.com/eWL4q.png Girl On Fire, a song that leaves many questions in the minds of the audience as to what's happening to the girl. Okay, obvious pun out the way - the song sounds like something I should hate, somebody shouting the same line over and over again. But, it's a very intriguing song that grew on me with every listen. She's done better, but this certainly grabbed me. As I prefer the solo version, this isn't one of the Nicki entries. http://i.imgur.com/A3lKr.png A dance song that I criminally underrate. It's exactly the sort of dance instrumental I love, the 'ay ay ay ow ow ow' chants are so euphoric and anthemic, that I don't understand why I wasn't raping my ears with this. And, because of how little I listen to this gem, it sits as low as #88. It feels wrong, but the mainstream whore in me probably thinks I'd have given it more attention had it mega smashed. GUILTY. http://i.imgur.com/SSzWn.png Another case of being GUILTY, is that I'll admit to being a fan of Pitbull. Don't Stop The Party isn't in this top 100, but unlike most on this site, it's a song I absolutely love. And, I love International Love too. I've used the word 'love' way too many times there. But, regardless, this is a very catchy, harmless but most importantly fun track, with a great chorus from Chris Brown. It possibly makes a difference that the song isn't even about partying and clubs - incredible. http://i.imgur.com/EcchG.png Here comes another BJSC entry, though I don't remember if I gave this 10 or 12. Never the less, it's an amazing dance track that I considered sending myself (and perhaps I should have, but oh well). I'm a sucker for a breakdown, and if you give me a beat-tastic breakdown in any song, there's a 99% chance that I'll eat it up. With 'You're Gonna Love Again', this is the same case. I use this word a lot (and I blame Loreen) - but this is EUPHORIC. *.*
