I've stopped watching this :( it became such a chore, not helped by the fact that I don't like most of the cast, and those I do like (Mercedes, Cindy, Sienna) aren't being used to their full potential. I just kinda laughed upon hearing about Nathan's death, it's just strayed from being really quite entertaining (if unrealistic), to silly :(

I haven't watched for ages, it was getting out of hand :lol: They do have a fair amount of good characters and good actors, but the writing for them is horrendous. They tend to just have them hit a wall and do nothing for ages, or they get ruined by a stupid affair or something (see Lisa).

Adam Rickett (who played Nick Tilsey in Coronation Street) is to join Hollyoaks as a former flame of Nancy.

 

 

Jamie Lomas, Gregory Finnegan and Ben-Ryan Davies are all up for best actor, while Jessica Fox, Rachel Adedeji and Anna Passey are up for best actress at the soap awards! None of them will win ofc but hopefully Anna Passey makes the short list as she is always fab.

In today's episode on E4 bar the scenes with the brothers, the characters all seem to have shagged each other...

Great news to hear although her last comeback I was disappointed at the storylines she had.

As part of Channel 4's 50 Shades of Gay season, a special documentary will go onto All4 this weekend taking a look back at the show's LGBTQ history which will be narratedby characters past and present.

In addition, some of the most iconic episodes will also be put onto the service including Craig and John Paul's first kiss, Ste and Brendan in Ireland and Esther and Kim's wedding.

I can't decide if Hollyoaks is really great or really bad at portraying LGBTQ characters on screen. On the one hand, they put the limelight on these characters much more than any other soap, tackling important issues and also give them storylines that they would any straight character, yet they still think it's acceptable to have a character seemingly switch sexualities just for "omg shock" value which is really quite offensive.

That did spring to mind! I get that sexuality isn't so black and white but it does feel like they are just trying to shock us and almost fetishise the matter.

I HATE that about Hollyoaks, I know some people do go through that and sexuality is more fluid than anyone likes to think, but they make it seem like absolutely everyone is actually bisexual, you have no mention of them having homosexual attractions then suddenly they're having a passionate affair with someone of the same sex or they've fallen madly in love. Fetishise is definitely the right word, it's like fan fiction sometimes :lol: You always see people tweet stuff like "Ryan should have an affair with Darren they're both so hot xxxxxxxx", it's like the producers see that and just say hey we'll make Ryan gay then.
