The star has shocked her friends by splitting from her long-term manager Terry Blamey, who helped launch her into showbusiness when she was 19. It is claimed the Aussie was upset over tensions between Terry and her dad. Kylie, now 44, has decided to concentrate on acting for the foreseeable future and take a break from music. A source close to the star said yesterday: “Kylie’s decision to stop recording for the time being and part company with Terry has come as a massive shock. Terry Blamey and Kylie Minogue Split: Kylie with her now former manager Terry Blamey AP “Ever since she broke into the charts in the 80s Terry has been the man behind the scenes. But now Kylie is saying she wants to pull back from the pressures that come with a music career. “She says she’s determined to devote more time both to herself and to her career as an actress.” The past year has seen “K25” events all over the world to celebrate Kylie’s 25-year pop career, which began with The Loco-Motion. She has sold more than 65 million records and won an OBE for services to music. Last month she thrilled a sell-out crowd at London’s O2 Arena, reuniting on stage with Jason Donovan to sing their hit Especially For You. But sources close to the star say manager Terry and her father Ron, had differing opinions on where her career should head. Terry last week told pals the split was entirely amicable and weeks earlier Kylie appeared at the music industry Artist & Manager Awards where Terry was given the main gong of the night. Kylie’s former record label Parlophone has been sold and she is now part of the giant Universal Records outlet. Yesterday an industry insider claimed the changes may also have influenced her decision. The source said: “Kylie used to be a big fish at her former label. She’s now been put into a huge roster of acts at Universal and probably can’t expect the special treatment she was used to. “She may be thinking she’s achieved most of what she wants as a pop star.” As an actress Kylie first found fame in Aussie soap Neighbours in 1986, where she played Charlene Robinson. Her character was married to Scott Robinson – played by Jason Donovan. She recently had a role in the film Holy Motors, which she called a “big challenge”. http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrit...ing-ex-1531809
January 13, 201312 yr  What about the new album? And that report seems very over exaggerated, it doesn't mean she's never ever going to record a song again! :P The page in the link has been deleted too.
January 13, 201312 yr Even if this was all true, it says she is taking a break to focus on acting. Besides, she has already begun a new album, which wasn't mentioned in that article.
January 13, 201312 yr I've searched on Google and they are all making a big deal of it. Honestly, you part ways with a manager and everyone thinks you're career is over!
January 13, 201312 yr Digital Spy said 'extended break', which is much more believable. That just makes me think 'oh I'm taking 2 or 3 years to focus on acting'. But then look at Adele, how many times has been 'on an extended break' or 'quitting music', then the next minute she's released a James Bond theme and then it's reported she's working an a 3rd album. So I wouldn't believe anything like this really until Kylie herself says something.
January 13, 201312 yr That sure was put to rest as fast as the news arrived! I had always thought a manager would be part of your record label, so it's surprising that she's had the same one from the beginning.
January 13, 201312 yr I'm sorry, but that article does not paint her in a very good light at all and is clearly a crock of shit. It makes her sound like another Britney-puppet who can't make decisions about her career without her father or her male manager and that she's a big diva, because she's no longer the big star of her record company. :/
January 13, 201312 yr Well I for one always believe the Daily Mirror when it writes things... yawn... link's been deleted too so we can put this rubbish to bed now :)
January 13, 201312 yr According to an insider on Sayhey the album will most likely be out early 2014.
January 13, 201312 yr Really hope a new album is out in 2013..... she may well have done most of it already... thing is with Kylie as she gets no radio play anymore (well radio 1/capital etc) then she has to do loads of promo on tv etc which is time consuming etc. She just needs a really good edgy dance track..... maybe a new management team will do this....
January 13, 201312 yr Why would she start a new Career at 44??? People love her for her music not for her acting ... Is acting in Z-rated indie films her career goal??? I hope not... An regarding her sacking her manager it might be for her best, since he hasn't quite helped her the past 10 years and took some really wrong career damaging decisions regarding her last 3 studio albums... She needs a new manager with a new vision..,
January 13, 201312 yr She didn't "sack" him. It was decided earlier this year and was amicable. Apparently he hasn't been that involved with the music side of her career for a while now anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if she decided to manage herself.
January 13, 201312 yr Author I think an extended break could be a good thing actually. Her career has been in decline the last few years and I think it will only get harder as she gets older.
January 13, 201312 yr I think an extended break could be a good thing actually. Her career has been in decline the last few years and I think it will only get harder as she gets older. If that's the case, then surely she shouldn't go on a break?
