That Paramore song is looking like a strong contender for #1 in the future.

 

As much as I love them and the pre-order is doing well, it really doesn't sound like the sort of thing that could get to #1. :( But I'd be more than happy just for it to be their first top 10 (plus another #1 album come April).

Paramore will make the top 10 singles but could never see them having a number 1 single, another number 1 album will happen for them for this era i am sure of.

It's great to see Thrift Shop climbing so fast!

 

It really seems like the early/mid-00s are returning. Not only with the likes of 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, etc. being back in the chart, but Thrift Shop itself sounds like something lifted straight out of 2004. It's so weird that it's going to be such a big hit now.

Yeah, it's climbing extremely fast. I said a few weeks ago I think when it gets Radio 1 support it'll shoot into the top 10. I think it might be at #1 by the time it gets to A-List.

 

One particular mid-00's song that Thrift Shop is VERY similar to imo is Get Right by Jennifer Lopez (which is one of her best songs imo).

I doubt he'll hold up anywhere near as well as Gotye did in the long run but 'Thrift Shop' is going to be massive, must be guaranteed year end top 10 already even at this earlier stage. It's now #1 in the USA and probably in for a good run (like pretty much every recent US #1 but still).

 

I heard it for the first time on Capital last night and am already addicted to it :wub:

 

Macklemore seems to scream one hit wonder but then his follow-up is #1 on Australian iTunes so perhaps he won't be. Maybe a two hit wonder a la fun..

The way the US charts work now, it's pretty much impossible for a #1 there not to have a good run lol. Thrift Shop will spend 20-30 weeks top 10 there.

I think Same Love definitely has potential to be big, especially following Thrift Shop (it was released before, but I guess they'll re-promote it).

And I'm pleased to see Thrift Shop doing so well!It's very 90s-esque and cutting-edge for the musical landscape of the 21st century, so I don't think that it will go to #1 because the song seems to be out of the UK public's comfort zone. But we'll see! ^_^
