HELLO. I'm starting this now at a relatively inappropriate time of (your) night and slightly earlier than scheduled for I know you all well enough now that inevitable delays along the way are indeed inevitable and my window for presenting this is somewhat SMALL. Nice introduction Chris. Inspire confidence in them all.

 

So WELCOME to the twelfth edition of your fav song contest on what is probably increasingly becoming your least fav website. People from all walks of life are welcome to to enter their most obscure and exciting musical discoveries of the last few months (or earlier, if you so wish), ready for them to be ripped apart by Tony and his band of HEARTLESS critics who reside here in the alternative forum. You don't even win a prize. Sometimes I wonder why we're even here. Think of it as payment for relative freedom compared to the near-dictatorship that is BJSC. Talking of which, here are your RULES:

 


01 There is no rule with regard to genre or length. Nice one to start you off.


02 The artist or band of your choice must not have reached the top 40 singles chart in the UK.


03 The artist or band of your choice must not have reached the top 20 albums chart in the UK.


04 The song must not be on the current UK release schedule.

05 To enter the competition you must send an MP3 by PM and also include a link to the song on (preferably) YouTube, Vimeo, or Soundcloud. 
I am crap at mp3 searching as many of you already know so the first part is as NEAR to obligatory as you can be. Don't blame me if you get a rap in the middle of a verse or Annie Mac screaming over a quiet patch as i probably won't have checked. Oops.

06 The MP3 must be either 256 or 320kbps. Low quality files have always struggled within the competition and thus are at a disadvantage.


07 You must not choose a song that has been previously entered.


08 Songs from the same artist will not be allowed to participate in the contest simultaneously.


09 You must not reveal or hint at which song you have sent.


10 I reserve the right to refuse an entry if I feel it does not fit within the spirit of the competition.

 

If I don't like your entry then I may just throw it back in your FACE so think carefully. You have until January 27 at midnight or something around then to enter (via PM to me) but if we get an obscene amount of entries before then I may just have to close so be QUICK. You can change as many times as you like so if you're struggling then reserve dat spot and get searching over the next week. COMECOMECOME.

I might be exaggerating a bit. :lol: It'd be the type of song that would scrap through its semi and come last in the BJSC final (SX 'Gold' all over again). :D

Sent. I only discovered this days ago, but it was just the sort of unconventional thing that I love. This would DEFINITELY bomb in BJSC (got something a bit more suitable lined up for that), but on here, I feel it really could go either way...

What is the incentive for not entering at all?

Think I may enter a song that's not actually a favourite of mine, simply because it would do well.

Most likely won't enter this. Can't think of a song I want to send and I probably won't have the time to enjoy it properly. :(

All good reasons.

I've not got a definite entry yet but I'll hopefully find something suitable by the end of the week. I'll probably send one of the songs I'm deliberating over sending to BJSC.

 

Speaking of BJSC, the registration for new participants is now open again ahead of the 51st edition starting this week, so if anyone wants to take part we'll welcome you with open arms! The contest has in recent times become far more "indie friendly" so it might appeal to a number of you now! If you've already registered or taken part before then you're welcome to return also!
