I've noticed that Impossible is now #3 on the Aus iTunes and will eventually hit the ARIA Top 10. Is this the 1st time a winner's single (of one country, the UK) is charting in another (Australia). I didn't even know that the debut/winner's singles (usually a cover) are released outside of their territory.

It's already top ten officially in Australia (#10 this week), did Shontelle's version do anything there?

I don't think so, Wikipedia has nothing about Australia and that song.

Oh and I think Hallelujah by Alexandra Burke got to #52 or something like that in Austria iirc (remember reading it somewhere once), but this is definitely the first major overseas success for an XF winning single.

I didn't expect this to do things overseas :o #2 in Switzerland and #10 in Australia! Hopefully this means his future singles do well in the UK and Syco don't treat him like McElderry/Cardle.

#27 in Czech Republic, #46 in Portugal and #53 in Austria

Eventhough I hate this song like mad, I think it's terrible really, credit is where credit's due, he's doing amazing with it

But Shontelle's version is so much better! James reminds me of that sith creature from Ice Age with a worse singing voice, I just don't get the appeal

Heard this on NRJ Radio in France yesterday, weird radio edit though, cutting out half of the chorus
Impossible is looking likely to become the biggest X Factor winning single in terms of chart longevity.

Very impressive.... I know many oriignal singles by Uk artists that don't peak as high as this in other countries. And yes to the other poster, Shontelle's versoin didn't chart on the ARIA charts. "IMpossible" looks to climb further as it's currently top 3 on iTunes.

If this is the case, then can "What You've Done To Me" have reflective success over here, it's only fair.

Only Little Mix's and James' single got a release in other territories though

James is so on course to become the most successful winners single in the history of the show. This is even more impressive as the show ( well the final) has lost about 6 million viewers from its peak ratings. If X Factor had the huge ratings it once had this single would have easily added another 300,000 or more sales to its current sales.

I didn't know that Cannonball was released in territories outside UK/Ireland.

That's what makes it all the more surprising. In all honesty though, "Impossible" is a nice song and I was always surprised it underperformed (Shontelle's version). Had Rihanna sung the song, it would've been a #1 for days and days.

Yeah I saw it in the Dutch Itunes store, when purchasing Wings

I am with Martyn. Come on UK, return the favour and show the Australians how "thankful" we are and download 'What You've Done To Me' and get that in the UK charts (preferably number 1 for 11 weeks or something). :)

This song is still a load of tosh and I am genuinely baffled as to how he's such a success. He's absolutely terrible. :\
