This song inspired me, I wouldn't say that about many songs either.

It really is a beautiful song, one of my favourites by Lucie without a doubt. I wish it did better. :(

I loved the Example's songs from the Won't Go Quietly era - Kickstarts is such a summery tune. Last Ones Standing should have done much better, as should of Watch the Sun Go Up (it's probably less remembered than LOS).

It's one of my fave albums. Listen to it a lot when I'm feeling down.

I love most of those.

Surely Turn My Swag On by Greg Street is more forgotten than Alexa Goddard's version?

I don't think ever I've heard Molly, Back in Time or No Beef since after they left the chart.

"Say You Don't Want It" by One Night Only in 2010. Should have been #1. GREAT SONG very catchy:

"How Can I Love You More" by M People from 1992. Heard this on the radio a few days ago and on my "Band of Gold" (90s programme) boxset in the background:

There are actually forgotten #1's, much less forgotten Top 40 singles which didn't go Top 10! Who even remembers these from 2000 anymore?

I could go on...

Could never forget this if only for the shock of it making the top 40 (I was 99% certain it would have dropped out over the week). One of the best top 40 hits of recent years IMO.

I remember all FOUR!!

The Britney one...I saw it on some music channel on my Mums...the video quality looked like an old video that was found in a rubbish bin!

One I remember and I own the CD, I think it got to #20 in 1998, Shelly Nelson - Sometimes.

I remember all four too. But Tom, Dick and Harry or Sharon and Tracy? Doubt it.

All of these from 1998-2005 went top five in my personal chart, bolded ones went to #1, fair to say many of the general public wouldn't recall them!

Meja - All 'Bout The Money (#12, 1998)

The Cardigans - Hanging Around (#17, 1999)

Paul Van Dyk - Another Way (#13, 1999)

Sister2Sister - Sister (#18, 2000)

Rollergirl - Dear Jessie (#22, 2000)

Thrillseekers feat Sheryl Deane - Synaesthesia (Fly Away) (#28, 2001 - one of the greatest/warmest trance songs ever imo, give it a listen!)

De Nada - Love You Anyway (#15, 2001) / Bring It Onto My Love (#22, 2002)

Dream - He Loves U Not (#17, 2001)

Lindsay D - No Dream Impossible (#32, 2001)

Alsou - Before You Love Me (#27, 2001)

Tillmann Uhrmacher - On The Run (#16, 2002)

Ladies First - I Can't Wait (#19, 2002)

Puretone - Stuck In A Groove (#26, 2003)

Boomkat - The Wreckoning (#37, 2003 - seems to have a cult following on BJ though!)

Kelly Llorenna - This Time I Know It's For Real (#14, 2004)

Charlotte Hatherley - Bastardo (#31, 2005)

Lil' Love - Little Love (#34, 2005)

Meja - All 'Bout The Money (#12, 1998)

Puretone - Stuck In A Groove (#26, 2003)

I still love Puretone, SO much better than their big hit.

Meja.

Completely agree, I really like Addicted To Bass but Stuck In A Groove was so much more melodic, I can't believe it couldn't even make the top 20, although I also can't see why it took them over a year to follow up their first hit.
How can I remember them if I've forgotten them?

I guess - focus on the word "guess" - the purpose of this thread is to list those songs which were originally non-Top 10 Top 40 hits of varying magnitude which have been all but M.I.A. from the general public's conscioussness.

A few of my favourites:

Sheryl Crow - The First Cut is the Deepest (#36, 2003)

Craig David - 6 of 1 Thing (#39, 2008)

Linkin Park - Breaking the Habbit (#39, 2004)

Sarah Connor - Bounce (#14, 2004)

Avril Lavigne - Hot (#30, 2007)

Katy Perry - Thinking of You (#27, 2009)

Evanescence - Everybody's Fool (#39, 2004)

Lindsay Lohan - Over (#27, 2005)

Hilary Duff - With Love (#30, 2007)

This is played all the time wherever I go  Even last Saturday! If anything I'm surprised it didn't go top 10 as it feels like one of those hits that should have been bigger.

There's way too many 'forgotten' top 40 hits I can think of - particularly in terms of 90s/early 00s dance music, basically take gooddelta's list and times it by about ten :P

This is one of my favourite songs ever and given its fairly heavy sound for 1999 standards did pretty well to peak at #14:

I LOVE "Everybody's Fool". Should have been a big hit but it was the fourth single off "Fallen", so I can see why it failed.

Some personal faves from 2009/2010:

Gary Go - "Wonderful" #26

Missing Andy - "Made in England" These guys appeared on some SKY1 reality show. The vocalist looks a lot like Mike Skinner!

also "Sing for The Deaf"

Great song, as was the similar Gouryella by Gouryella  Loads of brilliant trance songs filled the 11-40 positions in 1999. Forgotten by Joe Bloggs perhaps but still regarded as classics by fans of the genre - Ayla, Carte Blanche, 1999, The Awakening, Lizard and so many more!

Good ole Ferry Corsten.

ABsolutely one of the main reasons why I loved the charts of 1999, you were always guaranteed some amazing Top 40 new entries. Other ones like Liquid Child's "Diving Faces" (on Now 44) and Veracocha's "Carte Blanche". If something like that made the Top 40 now it would make everything else in the chart sound so average and DULL. :D
