February 18, 201312 yr I COULD vote, but I only know a few of their songs. :( They are a good band though. :D
February 18, 201312 yr I need 3 more votes to make this viable - please :D I could vote again, if you'd like.
February 20, 201312 yr I'd like to vote but I only know half tops which makes it a bit pointless. I'd listen to the rest but the deadline is currently tonight and I definitely won't have time.
February 20, 201312 yr I'm not able to vote either, I'm doing something else (spoilers?) for Buzzjack tonight. :(
February 20, 201312 yr I like to vote as well, but I'm hardly a Pulp fan, and basically there is only 2 or 3 singles I really like from them.
February 20, 201312 yr I am really sorry I haven't done this yet. (Despite a rather gentle polite reminder!) I will get it done tonight while I'm looking at BJSC results.
February 23, 201312 yr Author Results for this tomorrow night :D I will accept any more votes until tomorrow morning.
February 23, 201312 yr "Common People" will probably win, would love 'Babies' to be the highest non-Different Class song.
February 23, 201312 yr Scrap that, I will do this tonight! Albums soon..... *prays for "His N Hers" to come out top*
February 23, 201312 yr Author THE ALBUMS RESULT So, 6 albums, 9 voters. Who is 6th? 6. Separations (51 points) HIGHEST: Richie (8) LOWEST: Gezza (3) http://www.kickingagainstthepricks.org/sites/default/files/styles/issue_head/public/56670285.jpg Personal opinion: Not a shocker that this is lowest - I see this as their infancy in forming the sound which they would become famous for. I actually don't own it, but have the fabulous Countdown and My Legendary Girlfriend on single. Wiki: Recorded in 1989, it was belatedly released in 1992 on the independent record label Fire Records. The songs on the second half of the album are in an experimental acid house style, while the first half contains songs more typical of Pulp. The album was reissued and remastered by Fire Records in 2012 along with 1983's It and 1987's Freaks. This re-release took several delays as the first stated release date was 8 August 2011 while the albums finally came out on 13 February 2012. During than period the information that the albums would be remastered was stated and new bonus tracks were added to the track listing. The reissue also includes new artwork and liner notes from music journalist Everett True. This re-release gives an opportunity to hear "Death Comes to Town" which was previously released in 2005 only on CD that accompanied Sheffield journalist Martin Lilleker's book Beats Working for a Living. This 22-song CD featured rare tracks from some of the bands featured in the book. "Death Goes To The Disco" and "Is This House?" are remixes of "Death Comes To Town" and "This House Is Condemned" respectively. The bonus track "Is This House?" on 2012 edition is labeled incorrectly. This track is taken from "My Legendary Girlfriend" single, where two remixes of the song "This House Is Condemned" by Parrot & Winston can be found, but it is in fact the remix titled simply "This House Is Condemned (Remix)" K9QaaJqD3uc This House Is Condemned
February 23, 201312 yr Author 5. We Love Life (51 points) HIGHEST: titty (8) LOWEST: Gezza (4) http://cdn.7static.com/static/img/sleeveart/00/008/518/0000851805_350.jpg Personal opinion: Well, I still don't know what to make of this album. In many ways it is pretty good (The Trees, Sunrise and Weeds II in particular) but is also utterly disappointing. I guess it is the sound of a band maturing beyond the sound which made them popular and sadly this was their last album. Wiki: We Love Life is the seventh studio album by Pulp. Released on 22 October 2001 in the UK, and is the band's last album. It reached #6 in the UK album charts, with a total chart stay of only three weeks. It is notable for being produced by Scott Walker, whose own album 'Til The Band Comes In is mocked in the lyrics of the song "Bad Cover Version". Cocker claims the lyric was written long before Walker became involved in the album's production. In October 2011 a petition was started at PulpWiki.net to have a deluxe version of the album released. WDyg2xzoizk Weeds II

Intro (The Gift Recordings) (59 points) HIGHEST: richie (11) LOWEST: Various (as the default for not voting was 5) http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kakw4aWW-FY/Sf8Ik9exHbI/AAAAAAAAAD8/XlTXEPlsR1o/s320/pulp-intro.jpg Personal opinion: I adore this album. I first got it in 1995 after my mate let me copy his tape. Good times listening to this on my walkman on the bus to Uni. There are some better known crackers on this collection (OU, Babies, Razzmatazz) and some great album tracks (Stacks, Space, Sheffield: Sex City). This really was Pulp showing their potential and honing their own sound for what was to come. Wiki: Intro – The Gift Recordings is a compilation album by Pulp. It contains the band's three singles recorded for Gift Records and was released in October 1993. The version of "Babies" included here is the original single mix released in 1992, slightly different from the 1994 version available on the album His 'n' Hers. "Sheffield: Sex City" features a spoken vocal contribution from keyboardist Candida Doyle - reciting a selection from the book My Secret Garden by Nancy Friday - which is one of the few times her voice is audible on a Pulp song. February 23, 201312 yr Author 3. This Is Hardcore (62 points) HIGHEST: titty (10) LOWEST: Various (as the default for not voting was 5) http://www.gomediazine.com/wp-content/images/2012/05/pulp-this-is-hardcore.jpg Personal opinion: So, how do you follow up a career defining album now you are a cultural phenomenon? If you are Radiohead, you release Kid A, but if you are Pulp you release This Is Hardcore. Their are similarities imo - both albums are a bit less accesible and introspective and are a reaction against 'poppier' fame. Not that this is a bad album - quite the contrary in fact. There are many highlights (not least the superb title track) and hidden gems (The Fear in particular). Still, this was a sound of a band past it's mass appeal. Wiki: This Is Hardcore is the sixth album by English band Pulp, first released in March 1998. It came three years after their breakthrough album, Different Class, and was eagerly anticipated. As with the previous album it reached number one in the charts, and was well received critically, earning Pulp a third successive nomination for the 1998 Mercury Prize. A subsequent release in the UK later in 1998 came with a bonus live CD entitled "This Is Glastonbury". A deluxe edition of This Is Hardcore was released on 11 September 2006. It contained a second disc of B-sides, demos and rarities. The cover photo was art directed by Peter Saville and the American painter John Currin who is known for his figurative paintings of exaggerated female forms. The images were further digitally manipulated by Howard Wakefield who also designed the album. Currin was also the art director for the "Help the Aged" video, based on his painting "The Never Ending Story." Advertising posters showing the album's cover that appeared on the London Underground system were defaced by graffiti artists with slogans like "This Offends Women" and "This is Sexist" or "This is Demeaning". The music video for the title track was directed by Doug Nichol and was listed as the #47 best video of all time by NME. zaeQmrMgw7M The Fear
