Predictions for today...

Avicii - Hey Brother

Chase & Status feat. Jacob Banks - Alive

Crystal Fighters - Love Natural

Daughter - Amsterdam

James Arthur - Recovery

John Newman - Losing Sleep

Katy Perry - Unconditionally

Not much else being released before Christmas now, so I guess they'll add less and less songs now until they freeze the playlist for a couple of weeks in mid-December.

I'd say P!nk is a possibility for Are We All We Are?

Based on the release date (2nd Dec as far as I know) they would have added it a couple of weeks ago. It's the fifth single from the album so I reckon they might not bother. It doesn't seem like it's getting a big push anyway, is there even a video for it yet?

I'd have thought they'd playlist it even just on the C or B list, as they always support P!nk, and The Last Time by Taylor Swift got playlisted despite being the 5th single from her album. Are We All We Are? does indeed have a video (just a live one but still) and it's getting regular rotation on music channels from what I've seen.

Oh I didn't know the video was getting rotation. I still think they would have playlisted it a couple of weeks ago if they were gonna. It's a similar situation to 'I Don't Believe You' which was the fifth single from the last album and didn't get playlisted. I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong though!

Chase and Status are releasing the Jacob Banks collaboration? (I can't handle another flop )
Anyone think radio 1 will play any of the xmas songs by Kelly Clarkson or Leona??

I think they're more likely to play Leona. Was 'Trouble' playlisted last year? If so, they may playlist 'One More Sleep' from the start of December for the month or a couple of weeks?

I'm pretty sure Radio 1 won't touch her now, they didn't playlist the second single from Glassheart and the era went down the pan which as we all know is perfect ammunition for Radio 1 to snub her.

They didn't touch Kelly with 'Catch My Breath' either sadly (shoulda been HUGE)

I hope Leona could get playlisted in a couple weeks. It's catchy, had a mostly positive reception and the video will hopefully generate a buzz around the song (it's out on Monday I think). BBC Radio 2 look to be on board at the very least (They played "One More Sleep" recently and was the first Christmas song they played!).

I think "Daydreamer" will be A-listed.

Some xmas songs radio 1 have playlisted in the past 10 years -

2004 - Band Aid 20 - Do they know it Christmas (Added straight to the alist on 23/11/04 when it got its radio airing/tv exposure)

2005 - Waterbabies - Under the Tree (was on a vodaphone ad at the time but only got to the INMWT list for 4 weeks, charted top 30)

2008 - The Wombats - Is this Christmas? (alisted for the whole month but flopped peaking at no48 on xmas week, never really a singles artist but radio 1 loved them just after the first album)

2011 - Coldplay - Christmas Lights Alisted for the whole of december and peaked at no13 in the chart after being released OAOS on a wednesday with Zane Lowe giving it its premiere. Went top 3 on itunes so a Sunday release could have led to it being top 5 and who knows with a held back release - maybe top 3 with big sales??

Anyone else know anymore\?

Surely they must have playlisted The Darkness?

Sorry I was working from 2004 onwards but yes The Darkness Christmas Time was alisted in December 2003 in one of the greatest Xmas chart battle of our era - the TOTPs Xmas day performance of it was great but it was funny that they got beat because Mad World for me is another Xmas classic even if it wasn't a Xmas song per se - it was alisted too.

Pop star finalists weren't

Playlist predictions for this week? I'm thinking:

Avicii - Hey Brother (pretty much a certainty they'll add it this week)

Little Mix - Little Me (depending on when its actual impact date is, hope they don't delay it until the new year)

Sigma feat. Doctor - Rudeboy (they had it as track of the day recently)

Disclosure feat. Sasha Keable - Voices

Jason Derulo - Trumpets

Sub Focus - Turn Back Time

Possibles:

Kele Okereke - Heartbreaker

Nelly feat. Trey Songz - All Around The World

Gabrielle Aplin - Salvation (did they playlist her last single or have they given up with her this era?)

I guess they'll add less and less songs now and then freeze the playlist in a couple of weeks until the new year, as usual.

They did indeed playlist Gabrielle's last single, it was on the A List for a bit, so I'd say this one will get playlisted? It is the 5th single from the album though.
