June 24, 201312 yr Is she actually doing a video for this? Otherwise it will probably flop harder than Pour It Up ...
June 25, 201312 yr Author Right now doesn't seem to be making much of an impact yet. Looks like it could flop like her last song. Sounds like the days are gone when Rihanna could release anything and it would be a hit.
June 25, 201312 yr Oh PLEASE. This will not flop. For a start, it's had MUCH more airplay than Pour It Up... Although, when is it released?
June 27, 201312 yr Right now doesn't seem to be making much of an impact yet. Looks like it could flop like her last song. Sounds like the days are gone when Rihanna could release anything and it would be a hit. Did those days ever really exist? Probably 2010-11 was her peak, and even then, 'Man Down' missed the top 40. She actually has a surprisingly high number of flops, it's just they're forgotten about quickly because she puts out so many singles.
June 27, 201312 yr Man Down was never released as a single though?! So that's a rather unfair comparison to make...
June 28, 201312 yr I personally wouldn't count 'Man Down' as a proper single release. The singles from that album as far as I'm concerned are 'Only Girl', 'What's My Name', 'S&M', 'California King Bed' and 'Cheers'. 5 top 15 hits from one album was really impressive. :o
June 28, 201312 yr I definitely count it as a single, but I don't think it was intended for the UK market (similar to 'Rockstar 101'). I think it actually did fairly well to get to #54 and remain Top 75 for a few weeks. Technically 'Raining Men' was a single from 'Loud' as well. 'Hard' was one of her biggest flops here!
June 28, 201312 yr 'Man Down' was released in the US for urban radios at the same time 'California King Bed' was released to pop, and I do believe the latter was exclusively pushed here. I'm pretty sure 'Man Down' only charted off the back of its (slightly controversial) video.
June 28, 201312 yr But this always happens, promotion drops after the second single. Heck! She's topped herself this time and not even bothering with videos, but then again "Talk That Talk"...
July 5, 201312 yr This song does absolutely nothing for me, I think they definitely picked the wrong single. I guess they wanted to try a dance song to get her a safe hit, but this song is so generic and dated that it doesn't surprise me it's not doing much chartwise. She could still do dance and be innovative, there are plenty of great dance tracks around that dont sound like a Guetta reject circa 2010. Still, my most hated single this era was Stay, what dirge. Diamonds however I can still listen and enjoy it, even with all it's overplay.
July 6, 201312 yr This is by far her worst album campaign. Rated R had killer album tracks plus Rude Boy was catchy and Russian Roulette was quite good for a while. Loud had Only Girl, What's My Name and S&M, three huge great songs in a row. Talk That Talk had the massive We Found Love plus Where Have You Been was fantastic. Unapologetic? Awful. Diamonds did nothing for me at all. Seriously. I've heard it so many times and it's not even boring it's just "there". No urge to download it at all. Stay was dreary as hell and not what Rihanna is all about, although I did appreciate the change in sound for a change, it's just not my thing. Then we had that awful Pour It Up song, I mean WTF? And now this crap. I've heard the album and aside from Chris Brown's section in Nobodies Business and the chorus of Jump, it's just a load of shit. Hate the album cover as well. Hate the pixie haircut and hate her attitude this era. It was fun and sassy with TTT but now it's just awful.
July 7, 201312 yr Maybe I'm just easy to please, but I've appreciated the 'Unapologetic' era! 'Diamonds' & 'Stay' are both wonderful - a nice change of pace for Rihanna. I can take or leave 'Pour It Up' - she should have gone with 'Jump' instead. I have no problems with 'Right Now' - I understand that it's basic/generic, yet I still enjoy it. :kink: The album as a whole is a grower; there are gems to be found on there. 'What Now' and 'Love Without Tragedy' / 'Mother Mary' =
July 7, 201312 yr I just think RiRi is better as an uptempo artist like she was with Loud Diamonds is decent but massively overrated and don't even get me started on Stay :puke:
July 7, 201312 yr Rihanna gets it so right with ballads sometimes ('Russian Roulette' and 'Cold Case Love' from Rated R for instance are perfection), compare those to 'Diamonds' and 'Stay' which sound lame in comparison.
July 7, 201312 yr I agree with the comments about her attitude this era. The whole era just smells of laziness. I have liked the three singles she's put out (minus this one) but the fact she hasn't made videos for the most recent two isn't good enough. She kept us waiting forever with videos for her first couple of singles too and they weren't exactly great, one made no sense and the other was just her rolling around in a bath tub. The thing is, her name's only going to carry her for so much longer. And that is coming from a Rihanna fan. She needs to get her act together and really push one last single from this album and then perhaps release a GH later in the year with a massive new single, and then spend the time preparing for her next album. (And get a management team that actually manage!)
July 10, 201312 yr I heard 'Right Now' on Kiss FM (I think) earlier, and it seems like a completely new version of the song from what I could hear. Does anyone know if there is actually a new version of this song as I'm sure it wasn't the album version that I heard earlier!
