According to Music Week, Justin Timberlake was #1 on Tues mids sales wise pretty close. I should imagine yesterday JT stretched his lead a bit to 2k ahead, my guess his lead is going to stretch even more as the week goes on.

I might give Mirrors a listen again as I wasn't too fond of his vocals at the brits but I reckon Justin has definitely got it head on with choosing this year to come back.
Really expected better performances in both charts from Olly Murs this week, did think army of two would be top 15 and the album would be moving towards rather than away from the top 20.

Really? I thought he sang really well. Maybe I am clouded as I'm such a fan but after listening to live performances from the likes of Robbie and Olly on that show in the past years he sounds like Pavarotti :)

Hasn't it got a few weeks till its official release to get to its peak. If so there isn't anything to panic about.

Well ok he wasn't horrendous. I just thought he sang a bit weak in places but its probably the music drowning to some extent. This is just my opinion though.

Yes, not for another week yet. And he's got performances on Graham Norton tomorrow and This Morning and Ant & Dec next week to help it along. 'Army of Two' is doing extremely well on airplay as well!

That's cool. I was a bit over excited to see him. So the truth is probably somewhere inbetween.

Midweek Charts update: Bastille giving early lift to Virgin's new bosses

Source: MW

by Paul Willams

London four-piece Bastille are set to deliver an early success for Virgin Records under Universal ownership as they head for a top three UK singles chart debut this weekend.

The group's newly-issued Pompeii is comfortably at No 2 in the midweeks in the week to date, according to the Official Charts Company, around 7,000 sales behind RCA act Justin Timberlake's Mirrors moving 4-1. One Direction's Syco single One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks), whcih debuted at No 1 a weekend ago, is itself about 7,000 sales behind Bastille at No 3.

Wherever it exactly lands on Sunday when the week's final chart is announced, Pompeii will achieve a new chart peak for Bastille whose current best showing on the chart is 21 with the track Flaws last year. Their first album Bad Blood is releasd on Monday.

In further success for Virgin, Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events looks likely to achieve its 10th non-consecutive week leading the UK artist albums chart. As was the case on last Sunday's chart, behind it at No 2 is Mumford & Sons' Gentlemen Of The Road/Island album Babel, while the Polydor-issued Les Miserables soundtrack climbs 5-3, Island's Ben Howard holds at 4 with Every Kingdom and the collective Atoms For Peace, whose members include Thom Yorke, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers and producer Nigel Godrich, are new at 5 at this stage of the week with the XL-issued Amok. There are also brand new entries presently in the Top 10 from Reprise/Warner Bros's Josh Groban, Johnny Marr with a first solo set via Warner Bros, Michael Ball on USM Media and Rough Trade's Palma Violets.

Thank god for that PSY is out of the 40 :D and a nice clear out in the albums top 10.

Stereophonics are not inside the 40, I just wonder if the track might sneak in by Sunday and push Labrinth out of the 40

I really thought it would have sneaked in by today's update, but it's still climbing on itunes so fingers crossed it does so by Sunday :)

The 1975 at 40 :w00t: :w00t: HOLD ON please

Pretty much got a top 40 position by Sunday, #26 on iTunes.

The fact that The 1975 are firmly established as high as the top 25 now and yet still is only no40 in the official midweeks shows how hard it is for stereophonics and the like to hold out for a top 40 hit with all the combined versions of the others together.

If choclate stays in ill be happy. Indian Summers best chance might be next week with the 2 versions available?!
