Considering No Light didn't make top 40 with a Brits performance and Never Let Me Go didn't even make 75, I thought at best Spectrum would scrape top 100 ( didn't know about the remix until I saw it on iTunes). Definitely the biggest shock number 1 for years.

You'll all say this is silly but when I heard Nelly Furtado's Maneater I thought it would go Top 15 at best - I had no clue it was getting played to death and that everyone loved it. I am generally useless at this sort of thing but that one stands out as one of my more foolish dismissals. I do love it now.

Pixie Lott - boys and girls .... (It's just not very good)

Sophie Ellis bextor - posh was leading all week, especially with bringing David to the signings, was surprised she lost out in the end!

All saints - under the bridge / lady marmalade - I thought Madonna's ray of light would beat this , it's so superior ! I guess the album had sold extremely well by the time this single was released !

Aaliyah - more than a woman - I know she recently died but still didn't expect it to top the charts in this country!

"Boys and Girls" was a surprise indeed. I didn't expect Pixie to start her career with 2 #1s. I also found "All About Tonight" a shocker as I thought The Saturdays or even Leona had it sewn.

Iyaz with "Replay" - then yet again January is a REALLY weird month.

"Run This Town" by Jay Z/Rihanna/Kayne - I thought "Get Sexy" had it in the bag. Guess the fanbase of the three artists helped A LOT.

"Crossroads" by Blazin Squad - I thought "oh it's just a bit of hype, they'd be forgotten come the singles".....how wrong was I.

Some of the forgettable ones could be seen as surprises. "Gym and Tonic" is more of a club track...guess it must have been a low scoring week?

Not so weird. I didn't follow the charts at this point in 2006 so when I later found out that 'Maneater' was #1, I was surprised - moreso because her previous chart success in the UK wasn't major.

I knew 'All About Tonight' was a dead cert, I was expecting Leona to miss the top 5 that week. 'Mama Do' came as a shock to me, but I thought 'Boys And Girls' had a good shout as it was a pretty dry spell that week.

Rui Da Silva featuring Cassandra - Touch Me

I can't remember hearing this song at all in 2001 or any of the years that closely followed.
