I'm gonna have to admit, I've listened to 'Pompeii' several times I don't get the hype surrounding this song. Yes, it's a good track but is it really that good? Obviously there are a number of Buzzjackers who think so but personally I'm about 80% sold on this.

I'm almost the complete opposite with Paramore. I've never been a massive fan of theirs, but I did like 'Airplanes' from 2010 (even though if wasn't technically a Paramore song!!! :P ).

It was about time I had a #1 hit that didn't spend 2 weeks at #1 :lol: Still really like this track and I'm still not bored of it. As for 'White Noise' it's actually not that far off in terms of popularity. I sure enjoy listening to the song much more now than I did when I first heard it.

It really is quite astonishing. After 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)', I never thought Pink would go on to release two singles I enjoyed so much more. However, I think it was a good move to lead this era with something typically Pink then unlease the big ones later. It also gives Nate Ruess his third UK top 10 hit. :D

This is an example of someone struggling to order his chart. :lol: 'Clarity' (and 'Mirrors' for that matter) are the type of songs that would usually enter around their peak and stick around. As I'm really liking a lot of tracks at the moment (I've purposely held back entering the BJSC songs to make it easier to compile this weeks chart :lol: :drama: ).

My gut instinct that this was your entry was spot on in the end. Kudos to you though for entering a dance track - the only track of its type in UP so stood out regardless of how you looked at the track (ie; "omg amazeballs" or "urgh, this is just 90s tripe"). Either way it made an impact. :lol:

Bastille have definitely come on leaps and bounds. As posted above, I'm still not fully understanding the hype over this song. When I heard it, I'm expecting so much more from the chorus but when it happens it sounds really polite. :lol: It's difficult to explain, I guess if the vocals on the chorus were a little rougher I'd probably get into it more.

Don't let this fairly low(ish) new entry deceive you. :P This, alongside both 'Mainline' and 'Change' were easily my fave three songs from UP. This has only entered low due to the competiveness of the top 25. This will climb to its peak even if it takes a couple of weeks to get there (same with 'Change').

Yeah, I have to agree. Hence why Bowie finds himself back to back with the wonderful 'WAWN' which could've easily ended up at #36 but I did watch the video to 'TSAOT' a couple of times during the week, out of pure interest more than anything else.

 

40 (--) Caro Emerald - Tangled Up (40) [1 wk] Shame this is so low, I think it's a great comeback. Not quite up there with A Night Like This, That Man or Back It Up but not far off

 

I don't think this new single is a patch on the incredible 'A Night Like This'. All of Caro's singles from the first album charted higher than #40. 'Tangled Up' is ok but just sounds like the type of song that scrapes in for one week before quickly exiting again. :(

27 (--) Churchill - Change (27) [1 wk] Epic fail host coming up probably around April (ish), to be honest I was surprised the track won. There was a lot of negative feedback around it from some members :(

Oh yes, I'd forgotton that Mark hosted those first few contests. I've already predicted one of Aeroche, N DNTN or Skall to win BJSC LI and that's before I've even heard their entries. :P You did well entering Kodaline - admittdly, I didn't think it'd do that well but when it comes to alternative indie (as opposed to indie dance) you tend to do fairly well.

 

I don't know what's popular anymore in BJSC so I shall just enter a song I really like. I've got a few contenders - I even thought about sending 'Home' by Phillip Phillips but it's too well known, although I still can't believe it's not been released to UK iTunes. :manson:

He won American Idol and 'Home' is very similar to something Mumford & Sons would release. I think you'd be quite surprised, I think it's a great track.

Avicii has done incredibly well to get 3 weeks at #1. As mentioned in the above posts, my whole top 30 is so strong to the points that I'd usually have tracks like 'Mainline', 'Told You So' and 'Change' enter much higher. All 3 are certain to climb next week.

'Green Garden' is a really fresh quirky track which, again, would be looking set for a top 10 entry if my chart wasn't so strong.
