March 13, 201312 yr Fantasia (she will be when 'Lose to Win' smashes left, right, center, forwards and backwards and in all other directions! *.*) Seriously though, there are artists I don't really like/only like a handful a stuff by, like; Coldplay, Kate Bush, David Bowie, Madonna, Michael Jackson etc... but even I'm not stupid enough to put them in the "overrated" category, as I appreciate the things they have done for music and all that jazz. I'm not quite sure who I'd class as overrated... Florence + The Machine would definitely be a contender though. Her voice actually repulses me. Her songs always sound better when done by other people, for me.
March 13, 201312 yr Kylie Minogue instantly jumps out to me. She has a couple of great albums and some great songs but really on the whole she is REALLY lacking something and I don't know what... Also Ne-Yo, totally awful. The only songs he's done that are bearable are those where he is featured (Hate That I Love You, Knock You Down, Give Me Everything etc.), as a solo artist I REALLY can't stand him.
March 13, 201312 yr Michael Buble Ed Sheeran Emeli Sande Snow Patrol Ellie Goulding David Guetta Pitbull I think all the above are characterless, middle of the road, and overrated.
March 14, 201312 yr For me, the few overrated artists would be.. -One Direction -Rihanna -Taylor Swift (In the US especially) -Eminem -Katy Perry -Girls Aloud -Justin Bieber -Lady Gaga (even if I stan her so much)
March 14, 201312 yr + Kate Bush  Funniest post in a long long time. How can someone who has spent so much time at the forefront of female music be over rated? She's under-rated, if anything. Without her we'd have no Tori Amos, Bjork, Bat for Lashes, Florence, Joanna Newsom, Marina. One of the single greatest musical minds of all time. Edited March 14, 201312 yr by AnthonyT

I wrote it, because Kate wasn't the all-time best UK female singer and even don't near with it. [i heard this opinion many times] Many retro UK singers (Mary Hopkin, Cilla Black, Lynsey De Paul, Kathy Kirby, Dusty Springfield, Shirley Bassey e.t.c.) were better. It's not just about her singing - which is still better than all of those people - she was a musical innovator, on top of having a phenomenal voice and an incomparable gift for song-writing. It's inconceivable that any of the people you mentioned could really be compared to her, given her achievements, contributions and influence. That's like saying Will Young is better than David Bowie. March 16, 201312 yr Author Kylie Minogue instantly jumps out to me. She has a couple of great albums and some great songs but really on the whole she is REALLY lacking something and I don't know what... Kylie overrated??? She's one of the most underrated artists in the world, if there's any justice, she should've been more successful than Madonna ....
March 16, 201312 yr I'd definitely say Pitbull. He doesn't deserve one bit of the success that he has had.
March 16, 201312 yr Kylie overrated??? She's one of the most underrated artists in the world, if there's any justice, she should've been more successful than Madonna .... Kylie is a great many things, but underrated is NOT one of them  Anyway, +1 for Rita Whora, vile creature. And also Loreen :drama:
March 16, 201312 yr I'd definitely say Pitbull. He doesn't deserve one bit of the success that he has had. Does anyone "rate" Pitbull above anything other than an actual pitbull dog!? Anyway, +1 for Rita Whora, vile creature. And also Loreen :drama: +2 for Rita Oral. -1 for LorQUEEN.
March 16, 201312 yr Author Kylie is a great many things, but underrated is NOT one of them  She is Underrated worldwide, she has tens of great classic pop songs but has only scored 2 hits in the US which makes her really underrated.... Maybe she's really popular in the UK, but in the rest of the world she is widely unknown....
March 16, 201312 yr Maybe she's really popular in the UK, but in the rest of the world she is widely unknown.... No. She's huge in Europe and Australasia. She did five dates in South Africa on her last tour and nine in Asia, so clearly not unknown there. And she's toured North America twice in three years, where her last album also entered the top 20. Your statement is wrong. I adore Kylie but she doesn't deserve Madonna's success, nobody else does besides Madonna. Nobody else has had the cultural impact Madonna has.
March 16, 201312 yr Rita Ora (absolutely pretentious piece of trash, she thinks she's gangster and so cool but all her songs are the uncoolest things of 2012). Conor Maynard (why is he always scoring hits? His songs are uninspired, generic pop again trying to be cool). The Saturdays (they've never had a great single imo - when compared to previous girlbands, their songs and image are sub par). One Direction (just because they are five boys who are average looking and have catchy songs, they become huge worldwide). Taylor Swift (she was good when she was doing country but now she's just incredibly annoying). Nicki Minaj (another one who thinks she's cool but her music seriously sucks imo, 'Starships' should never have been a hit). Britney Spears (her best era musically was 2002-2005, ever since then, bar the odd great songs, she's been very "miss"). Ed Sheeran (his music is so dreary and monotonous, his voice lacks the ability to convey much emotion yet people jizz over the idea that he's a "real artist" and "he's so cool"). Jessie J (I do like her as a person but her music isn't as good as the hype suggested - 'Domino' is the only song where I can stand her vocals and even that is just a KP rip-off). Maroon 5 (I was a huge fan of HTB, SWBL and TL but their new stuff is unbearable to listen to bar MLJ, Adam's voice is becoming unbelievably nasal and grating). And the last comment reminded me: Madonna (maybe because I find her as a person rather vulgar, I'm slightly biased but I don't particularly view her as the "Queen of Pop" - she's definitely not the female version of Michael Jackson, that's for sure. I also don't like how many people put her on a pedestal like she's a musical God because she really isn't imo). Edited March 16, 201312 yr by SceneofSIXCrimes

Fair enough that you don't like Kate Bush, but you can't claim the likes of Cilla Black are anywhere near her whole package!
March 16, 201312 yr One Direction Only good song to their name is Kiss You so far. The Wanted were always so much better, even JLS had more than one decent song to their name! All hype, no substance.
