March 14, 201312 yr it's so unfair to see Harlem Shake still at the top while Thrift Shop is way well ahead in terms of sales, on-demand streaming, and airplay, the only winning point for Harlem Shake in the chart is those user-made 30 second videos which shouldn't even count in the official chart but unrightfully do... this silly rule gotta change, otherwise we will have dozens of Harlem Shakes style crazes that stick around at number 1 for ages without selling enough copies to deserve it....
March 14, 201312 yr Hadouken! actually climbing :o Now only 3 places behind their UK peak! No idea how they're managing this but hope they can keep climbing.
March 14, 201312 yr Hadouken! actually climbing :o Now only 3 places behind their UK peak! No idea how they're managing this but hope they can keep climbing. Most likely their People Are Awesome video that's up to 41,015,620 views and counting. A6XUVjK9W4o It's also their best track to date, imo, by a long distance.

Surprised that video is A) still getting views (I posted about it in the UK iTunes thread when it first came out) and B) getting views in the USA! I suppose it would explain it though. Amazing video and great song, I agree probably their best to date. Just a shame it never made it further than #87 in the UK.
March 14, 201312 yr Part of me hopes that Baauer stays at #1 for the rest of the year, it's hilarious and will be such a cultural blot when they look back on it.
March 14, 201312 yr this silly rule gotta change, otherwise we will have dozens of Harlem Shakes style crazes that stick around at number 1 for ages without selling enough copies to deserve it.... In all the years of using Youtube, I can't really think of any song that came even close to the weekly Youtube views of Harlem Shake. Even Gangnam Style was nowhere near. Maybe Crank That would come close if it happened today due to to all the user-made videos that it had, but that did amazing digitally and moderately good on airplay, so it got #1 anyway. If Harlem Shake hadn't happened, and they put Youtube in the Hot 100, the chart this week would be: 1. Thrift Shop 2. When I Was Your Man 3. Stay 4. Suit & Tie 5. I Knew You Were Trouble. and nobody would be complaining about it. When Harlem Shake dies it'll go back to normal.
March 14, 201312 yr It has probably been said previously, but the new Hot 100 compiling system is a mess. Anyway, wondering if Rihanna can score another number 1 this era, the song sure had staying power in the UK. Whether it will transfer similarly to the US will be seen in time.
