My top 3 from the last UP were so far ahead of everything else. Don't be too shocked to see 'Change' top 10 next week, it's looking very likely. If my chart wasn't so choc full of brilliant songs right now, Churchill might've already been top 10 by now.

I agree that 'Little Talks' was a wonderful folk pop song that ended up becoming one of my fave singles of 2012. This track, whilst still good, is unlikely to mirror that success here.

Again, I agree and considering 'Payphone' peaked at #15 in my chart, 'Daylight' deserves to at least equal that peak but it's looking unlikely just because of the amount of songs I'm enjoying particularly in my top 15.

It's become a bit of a grower. When I first heard this, I wasn't exactly sold on the track. Then I started to see the music video the odd time and it slowly started growing from there. There's a strong chance of 'Chocolate' climbing to its peak. I think it's also the first time ever two back to back new entries at #40 climb up the following week. Entering at #40 is usual for songs that are likely to drop out the following week...

I see it more in a "this really isn't #1 material" so that's how I view things. Expect something similar with The Saturdays next week, I don't think 'What About Us' is anything special, but it's good enough to make some impact in the lower region of my chart. It's only if I really can't stand a song/cover then it won't chart at all (see 'One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)' for eg).

I, myself, am surprised at how much I love Bastille, because they're a much more alternative sound to what I'm used to liking and listening to - so hopefully this opens more doors for my ears. :D

I was the same regarding the "Chocolate" track, at first I didn't think nothing much of it, apart from a cheap Script track that's how it felt at first as the beginning of the track sounded like an old Script track, after a few more listens the track just grew on me, I just like how the track develops, it might actually climb inside the top 10 for me next week.

 

"Boomerang" I just knew it was frontloaded to begin with when the track hit #1 last Sun/Mon on iTunes, I just knew it wouldn't get to #1 in the end, I actually laughed how it fell at the end of the week on iTunes. And I also agree what you said about the Saturdays I think they follow the pattern, but I just get the feeling they are going to get there on a poor sales week as there isn't anything else out unless Justin gets a leg up from somewhere. I know his video is out this week, not sure if its good enough after a 3 week run at #1. Duke Dumont is obviously going to be the next #1 in 2 weeks time unless it gets an early release, as there isn't anything else out for a while yet, unless sometimes else crawls out of the woodwork.

08 This has been growing on me a lot recently, I find myself singing along to the chorus randomly.

 

28 This is really good, doesn't seem like it will get annoying like Payphone and One More Night did (although the latter was annoying to begin with).

 

36 Will probably end up missing the Top 100, just like Smoke & Mirrors did. Her peaks this era have been quite similar to her previous era - New York and Never Tear Us Apart both peaked at similar positions and had similar longevity; Upside Down and 30 Minutes Love Affair at ~50s; Just Be and DYWTTOSB at ~60s/

Laura Palmer is definitely one of the best on the album :wub: Listen out for that :D

 

So I've just been on iTunes and checked the previews but nothing sounded incredible. 'Laura Palmer' did stand out the most so that's the wisest move to release that as the next single.

I was the same regarding the "Chocolate" track, at first I didn't think nothing much of it, apart from a cheap Script track that's how it felt at first as the beginning of the track sounded like an old Script track, after a few more listens the track just grew on me, I just like how the track develops, it might actually climb inside the top 10 for me next week.

 

"Boomerang" I just knew it was frontloaded to begin with when the track hit #1 last Sun/Mon on iTunes, I just knew it wouldn't get to #1 in the end, I actually laughed how it fell at the end of the week on iTunes. And I also agree what you said about the Saturdays I think they follow the pattern, but I just get the feeling they are going to get there on a poor sales week as there isn't anything else out unless Justin gets a leg up from somewhere. I know his video is out this week, not sure if its good enough after a 3 week run at #1. Duke Dumont is obviously going to be the next #1 in 2 weeks time unless it gets an early release, as there isn't anything else out for a while yet, unless sometimes else crawls out of the woodwork.

 

I have to admit that at the moment I can't see 'Chocolate' heading anywhere near my top 10. Should easily make the top 30 soon, maybe top 20 if it does grow. That said, 'Little Talks' entered my chart at no. 40 and ended up topping my chart 5 weeks later so you just never know.

 

'Boomerang' really did end up performing poorly. Topping the midweeks on Wednesday, down to no. 4 on Friday's update then no. 6 officially. Yet it's holding up inside the top 10 which makes me believe that single sales are going to decrease a fair bit this week. The Saturdays are over double Justin Timberlake on Kworb but I still don't think 'What About Us' is going to break 100k. I'm still a bit baffled as to why this song is doing better than some of their (better imo) previous singles.

 

Imagine the meltdown on Buzzjack if Duke Dumont did release midweek and ended up with a massive lead on iTunes and ended up no. 1 on Sunday by 100 sales. :lol:

02 Still can't get enough of this! :wub: I already rank this very high among P!nk singles and it's certainly my favourite from The Truth About Love.

 

08 This has been growing on me a lot recently, I find myself singing along to the chorus randomly.

 

28 This is really good, doesn't seem like it will get annoying like Payphone and One More Night did (although the latter was annoying to begin with).

 

36 Will probably end up missing the Top 100, just like Smoke & Mirrors did. Her peaks this era have been quite similar to her previous era - New York and Never Tear Us Apart both peaked at similar positions and had similar longevity; Upside Down and 30 Minutes Love Affair at ~50s; Just Be and DYWTTOSB at ~60s/

 

37 Insanely catchy, shame about the 1-6 drop throughout the week!

 

40 This has to be my favourite entry this week. :wub: Very split opinions in the Buzzjack Chart Show thread, however.

02. I'm still adoring 'JGMAR'. I bought the track on iTunes about 5 weeks ago when it was in the 30s on iTunes and back then was thinking "this is a great track but it's just not going to smash". Five weeks on and I'm delighted with how well it's doing. :wub:

 

08. I'm slowly getting over 'Thrift Shop' but it's still going to be inside my top 20 for a few weeks yet.

 

28. I actually preferred 'One More Night' to 'Payphone' but 'Daylight' is also a good track. Doubt it'll make my top 20 although at the moment, as you've noticed, a fair few new entries are coming in low but climbing up to their peak. I guess this just shows how much the track has continued growing on me post charting. Usually tracks enter around their peak and stick around for a bit before dropping down so it's a bit refreshing to have both happening in my chart. That said, I really think my entire chart is strong hence why KOTA has progressed 40-30 for eg.

 

36. Yeah, Paloma Faith just isn't a singles artist yet she has released a couple of great tracks. 'New York' remains her biggest hit in my chart.

 

37. It's catchy but I find it a bit lacklustre and this is coming from someone who had 'Poison' no. 1 in his chart. There was something I really liked about 'Poison' that I feel this song lacks.

 

40. I didn't think this was anything special at first but it's growing. This will climb next week, I'm 99.9% sure of it. :lol:

I think Krewella have the "big in America" advantage so 'Alive' could well become a hit in the UK later in the year. At least I'm hoping so, such a brilliant track. Sadly 'Flares' just didn't catch on anywhere. Not even in Sweden so maybe it might make a spectacular comeback in 2014 (well, you never really can tell :D )

'Mirrors' is such a great track, doesn't even compare to the average 'Suit & Tie' for me. JT only really suffered last week due to Krewella making its big debut in my chart so he's recovered brilliantly to reclimb and hit a new peak here in the process.

This remains one of the best UP discoveries I've made so your success here is well and truly deserved. I'd be tempted to agree but I also liked 'Change' (aiming for that top 10 next week :o ) so Mikey winning was a great result imo.

02. It does indeed. The difference with 'Mirrors' was that it got a massive boost from The Brits so climbed something like 28-04 in one week whilst Pink's progress has been more gradual. I still don't get the fuss over 'Beneath Your Beautiful'. Nice song and all but just didn't tick all the boxes for me (Labrinth's vocals mainly put me off).

 

28. It really depends on what's charting. I've had songs make rapid climbs - one of the biggest climbs in my chart was Daniel Powter 'Bad Day' which rocketed 30-01, remains to this day the only song to climb to no. 1 in my chart from outside the top 10. :D

 

36. Me, on the other hand, can't really say I'm a big Paloma Faith fan. I've liked some of her singles but not enough to see them sticking around for endless weeks.

 

37. Yes, how ironic both peaked at #37 for me. :P 'Poison' was a blatant attempt at recreating 'Bad Romance' but it just appealled to me for some reason. :lol: RedOne had the knack for producing a really good pop track. He made Sean Kingston slightly more bareable, imo, for eg. :lol:

 

40. I think I'll reserve judgement and see what future singles are like. They might go on to release an absolute classic by the end of the year so we shall see. :D

It's such an anthemic track, I'd really like to see this smash in the UK when they get around to releasing the radio edit to iTunes. I think this is what I find disappointing about iTunes sometimes, there are tracks I really want to buy on iTunes but can't because they're either not on there at all, or they are but Album Only or in this case it's the EP version which is longer but seems to lack the magic the edited version has (ie; the radio edit is much more instant)

I heard it again today and despite being tagged as indie music, it has that dance sound about it which is probably why this is doing well. Hard-Fi were doing dance-esque indie music back in 2005 though (listen to 'Hard To Beat') so really The 1975 aren't doing anything new, but it's working so kudos to them.
