February 21, 201411 yr Well i'm not denying that the "She" refers to feminism or the female or whatever, i just think there's much more effective ways of going about that. See 'It's Not Me, It's You' which was a witty way of subverting a saying which usually works as man -> woman. This is cheap. I would say your analysis of INMIY is reaching. You are correct that this is very obvious, but I still believe it's effective in what it wants to do.
February 21, 201411 yr 'Sheezus' is an awful title. From a marketing point of view, Yeezus isn't very well-known in popular culture anyway so I think the reference will be completely lost on the general public. And it's not like it's a particularly bold statement or very witty for those who get it - it's just an ugly word really. More importantly though, the music so far doesn't signify anything special so it's all getting a bit worrying that she's past her prime . Hopefully she's saving all the good stuff until after she gets her name out there again with 'Air Balloon'. She's on Graham Norton tonight anyway which should be interesting.
February 21, 201411 yr From a marketing point of view, Yeezus isn't very well-known in popular culture anyway so I think the reference will be completely lost on the general public. I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that particular point. 'Yeezus' was pretty much one of the most talked about releases of last year. Love this title BTW. It's lazy, but it's very Lily Allen as Umi pointed out. Just hoping she has some better songs coming out soon, I sadly got bored of 'Hard Out Here' quite quickly and I'm not really a fan of 'Air Balloon' :(
February 21, 201411 yr I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that particular point. 'Yeezus' was pretty much one of the most talked about releases of last year. Really? Maybe on music sites but I don't feel it's permeated public consciousness like 'Sasha Fierce' did for instance. If I said 'Yeezus' to a hundred people at my uni, I think only a handful would link it to Kanye West (I live in Dublin btw :P) but I might be completely off the mark with that!
February 22, 201411 yr She apparently blanked Fearne Cotton FIVE TIMES at the Brits As ANYBODY SHOULD
February 22, 201411 yr she has legit lost the plot. air balloon is just awful and now she goes for a gimmicky, already old pop culture reference to try and be witty and 'with it'? it's not even feminist it's just a cheap dig at some other guy's work back into retirement love. February 22, 201411 yr The title has grown on me a little but I find this whole era quite odd. I can see Air Balloon sinking quicker than HoH so she desperately needs a decent hit before the album drops. As for Lily herself I don't remember her being quite as awkward last time around. Maybe it's a confidence thing but she seemed so out of her comfort zone at the Brits and even more so on Graham Norton last night, though the latter has more to do with the fact the fabulous Miriam Margolyes owned the entire show and didn't seem to like her very much.
February 22, 201411 yr @lilyallen: It's an homage, not a piss take. #SHEEZUS 🚺🚺🚺🚺💅💅💍💎😍😛😃💥💥🍆🍆🍆💒💒💒🚀🚀🚀🚨🚨🚨💟💟✔️🔜🔜🔜🔜🔜
February 22, 201411 yr I agree that this whole era is more odd than anything else. Like in the past few months she's gone from MOR cover version, to a "statement" song with 'Hard Out Here', to 'Air Balloon' which just seems to be a total throwaway "fun" track (unless I'm missing some hidden message to it). The songs aren't terrible, but there doesn't seem to be any remotely consistent direction to any of it.
February 23, 201411 yr Author 2CD Deluxe is £19.99 on Amazon  Vinyl is £4 cheaper and comes with a CD apparently (the bonus one I guess).
February 24, 201411 yr Love the album title. Although, I would prefer it if she was starting "beef" with Kanye! rather than giving him a "nod" or whatever. Edited February 24, 201411 yr by .MIKE.
February 24, 201411 yr I think she sounds almost identical to Daisy Dares You (remember her?) in some parts of L8 CMMR.
February 24, 201411 yr Author I've come to the decision that "L8 CMMR" is better than "Air Balloon". It is and I wish she'd release that instead of Air Balloon, though it's too similar to Hard Out Here and people would moan about that.
