Posted March 20, 201312 yr Icona Pop have confirmed to Popjustice that they’ll release their debut album in the UK later in the summer – and it’ll include a load of new songs. The above-average duo had a chat with us yesterday about the reworked version of their album, which is already out in some countries that aren’t the UK. “It’s not gonna be 15 similar songs,” Aino said. “It’s gonna be 15 really different songs and we’re gonna take some old songs with us because we want people to hear that we’ve been through a journey when it comes to the music.” “We still do pop music,” she continued, “but it’s with a lot of influences from other genres and stuff like that.” ‘Lovers To Friends’ is a reference for the new tracks, they say, with Aino explaining that “there’s a charm to heartbreaking songs and that’s what you’ll hear more of on the next album”. Caroline adds: “A lot of people have only heard ‘I Love It’ so I think it will definitely be an album where people get under our skin a little bit more. It’s going to be a very honest album, where it’s basically Aino and me around the world figuring a lot of stuff out. I mean we’ve been doing this for four years now. And it’s been a journey and you’re definitely gonna hear that on the album.” http://www.popjustice.com/thenews/icona-po...w-songs/111867/ Excited!! :cheer:
May 28, 201312 yr Author Another article about Icona Pop's new album from Digital Spy here! Icona Pop have promised fans a new album before the end of summer. The duo are currently working with a range of producers for their international debut, following the global success of new single 'I Love It'. "It's gonna be out before the end of the summer," Aino Jawo told Billboard of the album. "We've worked with hip-hop artists like Zebra Katz, and also Stargate, Benny Blanco and Shellback." Caroline Hjelt added: "It's not gonna be 15 'I Love It's, but it's gonna be personal tracks. "We've been writing on this album for almost four years. We always say that it feels like we've been in labour for four years, and now this little pop baby is finally coming out." Icona Pop recently told Digital Spy that they have more collaborations on their new album, following the success of Charli XCX on 'I Love It'. And it is rumoured that apparently according to members of ATRL forums, a "very reliable insider" has said that one of those collaborations is with Katy Perry!
May 28, 201312 yr If they really have a Katy Perry collaboration, that would be a very good way for them to avoid the one hit wonder tag!
July 18, 201312 yr Author We have news regarding Icona Pop's upcoming first US full length-album and I assume this will be the same album that we get presumably following the 2nd single here. Icona Pop are scheduled to release their second full-length studio album, This Is..., on August 27, 2013 in North America. The album will feature collaborations with Benny Blanco, Stargate ("Girlfriend"), Shellback, Jarrad Rogers ("In the Stars"), and more. I'm hearing that This Is... is set to be released on iTunes in the coming weeks for pre-order, even as soon as next week. The pop duo, who recently shot a music video for the mid-tempo Benny Blanco and Stargate-assissted "Just Another Night," will also be premiering their upcoming single "All Night" on Tuesday, July 23. "All Night" is an uptempo, anthemic party hit ("it feels like we could do this all night") that features (real, live) crowd chants and mini dance breaks. In addition to the aforementioned singles and "I Love It," the album is set to include one of my personal favorites, "Light Me Up," which can be heard live here (no, the album is not full of only uptempo, dance songs a la "I Love It") Source ATRL music forums are accepting this as fact, so it looks like it must be a reliable source!
July 23, 201312 yr Author This album is now available to pre-order on UK iTunes (and I assume on iTunes worldwide) with a UK release date of October 7th! http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/2b/3f/52/2b3f52e3-6091-934d-ee89-451559279610/075679949929.600x600-75.jpg Track Listing 1. I Love It (feat. Charli XCX) 2. All Night 3. We Got The World 4. Ready For The Weekend 5. Girlfriend 6. In The Stars 7. On A Roll 8. Just Another Night 9. Hold On 10. Light Me Up 11. Then We Kiss
July 23, 201312 yr They both actually look really pretty on that cover, looking forward to this and I'm glad Ready For The Weekend is on there.
July 23, 201312 yr 'All Night' is alright, an improvement on 'Girlfriend' but I'm still not sure it sounds like a hit. So glad to see 'We Got The World' on there, future single please.
July 23, 201312 yr Author Icona Pop have referred to the album as "This Is... Icona Pop" on Twitter so it looks like that is the official title! It is released in the US on September 24th and the pre-order has been removed from UK iTunes for some reason, but I assume the 7th October release date will still be corrrect.
August 28, 201311 yr My friends are dragging me to their concert in October (and I don't even like 'I Love It'!!). But it was cheap and I'll probably just get drunk and dance.
September 5, 201311 yr I quite like 'In The Stars'! It's the first song of theirs which does not sound identical to all the others.
September 5, 201311 yr I really wish they'd review this incredibly daft idea of releasing 'Girlfriend' as the second single and release either 'We Got The World', 'In The Stars' or even 'All Night' instead.
September 5, 201311 yr I really wish they'd review this incredibly daft idea of releasing 'Girlfriend' as the second single and release either 'We Got The World', 'In The Stars' or even 'All Night' instead. I second that. "We Got The World" is screaming to be a follow-up single. They won't have a track as big as "I Love It" so rather just stick with the big guns. "All Night" doesn't strike me as single material though. Nice track and all but half of their album is better than that.
September 6, 201311 yr Author This album is now being released on October 28th in the UK according to iTunes.
