On the back of the out of the blue number ones, just wondering what old tracks would you like to see topping the singles chart.

Love to see Vienna by Ultravox, after they were cruelly robbed by Joe Dolce / Shaddap Your Face.

It also brings a question, do people like seeing old music topping the charts, for me its a bit of nostalgia, so I don't really mind it once in a while and it creates a new generation of listeners to the track also it gives the track a new lease of life.

Weren't Ultravox's biggest sales weeks at number two behind the then recently deceased John Lennon though?
I think I'd quite like it if for some reason 4 Non Blondes - What's Up? made it to the top spot twenty years on, but probably many will disagree with me on that.

As a one off it's ok. I think because PJ & Duncan's track only got to #9 it wasn't exactly a monster hit in 1994 but it's held this weird legacy over the years. Up until last weekend, 'LGRTR' always seemed more popular than its original chart peak suggested so seeing it looking likely to become a #1 isn't a bad thing.

This might sound random but I really like 'Brown Eyed Girl' by Van Morrison but it peaked at no. 154 (according to Wiki) so if I could choose an old track to get a decent boost these days it'd be a track like this (rather than something that was successful first time round).

That's ridiculously low :o Wouldn't mind that getting a decent boost to be honest, it's inevitable first appearance in the top 40 is long overdue.

Honeyz Finally Found deserves this!

Oh wow, amazed that you like the track too. I'd have expected more reactions like "what even is that song?"

Madonna - "Crazy For You", if only because it peaked at #2 on two very separate occasions. And because I want that million seller.

A few cult classics that peaked extremely low/not at all and would be great if they made it to #1:

The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon

The Mamas & The Papas - California Dreamin'

Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 or Bryan Adam's Summer of '69 would be nice, especially as they are considered number ones by the public today.

Wow, another song I thought was a bigger hit than it appears to have been. Made #23 in 1966 and finally made the UK top 10 thanks to a re-release in 1997. :o

I know! I always used to think it was a #1 but I guess it's a prime example of a classic song worldwide solely due to it's success in the US rather than anywhere else. Such an amazing song!

Better The Devil You Know - Kylie

This would have satisfied me lol

Something by Ivor Cutler. I'd love it if everyone hopped onto iTunes and bought Cockadoodledon't or Barabadabada. It'd be the most peculiar number one ever.
The Killers "Mr Brightside"... such a modern classic!!!
