I think this can do 400,000 in total. Trickle sales throughout the year and it'll probably also be one of those that sells a fair bit more with the gift card effect in January?

Maybe, we'll see. Glad they sold more than 7.2k! :cheer:

Even though, it might leave the top 40 this week, and I think (god I hope I won't jinx it ha!) it could actually hang around the top 50 for a few weeks.

Exactly. 'Issues', 'Ego' and 'Higher' all went top ten and sold over 250K each as post album singles compared to 'Change Your Life' and 'How Ya Doin?' only going to #12 and #16 (?) and having really short chart runs. 'DNA' had a really short chart run as well even with an X-Factor return performance, and the album still isn't platinum after four singles/airplay/tons of promotion/XF winners/press coverage. I really think they'll struggle with their second album.

Why do you think Little Mix will struggle with their second album? Just because The Saturdays did poorly with their second album doesn't mean Little Mix will. Don't forget Girls Aloud did much better with their second album. Little Mix will do well with their second album. I think it'll do just as well as their first album, maybe even better.

I don't think that's necessarily a given. I like Little Mix but the buzz around them does seem to be fading a bit which could be really toxic for them because that is what much of their fame is based on. The Saturdays worked their way to the top and have demonstrated staying power and a loyal (and diverse) rather than fleeting fan base.

A fleeting fanbase, really? I guess we'll have to wait and see. I expect Little Mix to sell more than The Saturdays forthcoming album, who let's be honest still haven't really proved it yet with their album sales.

I really don't want to get into the Little Mix vs Saturday's again, I don't see why we have to have this argument.

I don't think it's fair to compare them especially when comparing airplays and promotion. I would expect Little Mix to sell more as I could imagine them on shows like BGT and xFactor, although The Saturday's seem to be doing much better right now.

I think fans of The Saturdays should be the first fan base to know that you shouldn't write an act off when there's a slight rough patch. There were so many times The Saturdays were "in danger"... but they've persisted, and 5 years down the line they now seem bigger than ever before. Therefore, I don't think Little Mix should be dismissed at this stage. It's great that Sats fans have been able to celebrate a #1 single, finally, but let's not get too cocky and downplay Little Mix's success.

I wasn't trying to start an argument, just a bit of a discussion and friendly banter. I like to see both groups do well in the charts. :)

LM have the twitter followers and youtube views, plus they have done way better in the US and Canada, so lets not get cocky.

I'm not a LM fan AT ALL, quite the opposite, but I think we need to wait and see what Gentleman does before we go claiming supremity.

Besides, the Spice Girls will always be the best girlband that ever walked this universe... :funky:

What About Us is a non-mover in the midweeks

I can see it rise this week if it stays in to 35-37 region

Yeah, hopefully 'Bring Me Back to Life' begins to trail off quite fast so The Saturdays are able to overtake them, any sort of climb would be appreciated.

It's eventually went top 40 in New Zealand #36

Dropped from 23-35 in Ireland.

They appeared on a MTV show in America last night and have managed to climb to #672 on Pop iTunes.

I know 'What About Us' wasn't huge worldwide at all but it's still pretty impressive to see how many places it's charted. It really fills out their discography after being stuck at just UK and Ireland for years. Hopefully Gentleman continues the success and eventually they start scoring a few top tens here and there.

The only notable countries missing are Australia and America, and I'm surprised they haven't charted in France yet as well.

They could have easily went top 30 in Germany had they bothered to promote instead of doing a couple of magazine interviews. It's frustrating as German market is massive, it's no doubt sold around 50,000 in Germany. Worldwide I think 'What About Us' will shift around 600,000. (UK - 400,000, USA - 100,000, Germany 75,000 and it should make up other sales from elsewhere.
I still really want the US thing to work out for them. :( It's pretty much THE big thing so I hope at some point they give it another go.
I'm not sure if 'Gentleman' is getting released in the US, although Kellan Lutz has already tweeted about the song. I wonder if they will bother releasing their album in America?

Someone on here (or Popjustice) said they had a deal to release an album in America but I haven't heard anything else. I don't think Gentleman would work in the US AT ALL. They'd probably be better off going back to 'What About Us' since it's their most successful and current single and has already been sent to radio ages ago.

Hooray! 10 weeks in the top 40 is what I was hoping for all along. ^_^

There's no way the sales are so good in Germany, right ?

It's a bigger market than the UK apparently but I still can't see a song with a #44 peak selling over 75,000. I don't think it's sold 100K in America either. More like 50/60K.

There's no way it's sold 100,000 in America. How to be a Heartbreaker had been hovering around #200 on iTunes for quite a long time (longer than the Saturdays) but that had only managed 90,000, in total, the week after it was performed on Glee. That had also been out since July.
