Other chart acts to make a bigger impression on the chart this week come from Iggy Azalea, Paramore and Angel with new entries from Nina Nesbitt and We The Kings. And Jason Mraz making an appearance with "I Won't Give Up" on the back of the BBC1 TV Show The Voice. Paramore are set to be one of the contenders for a #1 album, with their self titled album "Paramore", other new releases will probably come from James Blake, Stone Sour, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, The Knife, Brad Paisley, and Device. ======================================================= Please note new changes to the Sunday Chart Predictions thread topic: You can still post your own predictions for the week to generate chat to the topic. April 8, 201313 yr Author Midweek Charts: Paramore on course for second UK No 1 by Paul Willams Paramore are in line to top the UK artist albums chart for a second time as Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead leaps into the Top 10 singles sellers in reaction to Margaret Thatcher's death. Tennessesse band Paramore's self-titled fourth album is currently comfortably outselling its three main rivals combined and appears destined to follow their last Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen album, 2009's Brand New Eyes, to No 1 this weekend, according to the Official Charts Company. However, Paramore's success, which follows them performing on Graham Norton's BBC1 show last week, is bound to be overshadowed by the extraordinary appearance in the singles midweeks of Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead. The recording by the Wizard of Oz Film Cast from the 1939 movie starring Judy Garland is the week so far's 10th best seller, having leapt up from its position of 54 on Sales Flashes the day before. Issued by the Great American Music label, the track has never charted before, but is one of a handful of songs appearing in the midweek Top 200 as a negative response to the death on Monday of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Spurred on by a Facebook campaign to get it to No 1, it is joined in 80th place by the Decca-issued Ella Fitzgerald recording of the same song and Elvis Costello's anti-Thatcher track Tramp The Dirt Down on Rhino at 96. Back on albums and OMD are heading for their highest chart position in more than two decades with brand new studio set English Electric on 100% Records showing up as a new entry at 7. It is the second new album reuniting the group's main players Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys; the first, History of Modern, reached 28 in 2010. OMD last made the Top 10 in 1991 when Sugar Tax reached No 3, but that was after Humphreys had left, while the last new studio Top 10 album featuring both of them was Junk Culture in 1984. There are two other brand new albums among the Top 10 sellers at this stage of the week with Roadrunner act Stone Sour's House & Gold & Blues - Pt 2 at 5 and James Blake's second Atlas/Polydor album Overgrown at 6. Pt 1 of Stone Sour's album reached No 13 last year, while Blake's self-titled first album made it to 9 in 2011. Paramore's expected debut at 1 will end Justin Timberlake's three-week rule with The 20/20 Experience and this has dropped to 2 in the midweeks. However, his RCA colleague Pink moves 5-3 with The Truth About Love with sales up 29% on the back of the continuing popularity of her Nate Ruess duet Just Give Me A Reason, which holds at 2 on the singles midweeks. Interscope/Polydor's Imagine Dragons slide 2-3 with Night Visions, Atlantic's Bruno Mars loses two places to 8 with Unorthodox Jukebox, as Emeli Sande falls 7-9 with Our Version Of Events and her Virgin colleagues Bastille decline 8-10 with Bad Blood. Outside the Top 10 five other brand new albums are presently registering among the week's Top 40 sellers, includng Swedish electronic duo The Knife on the Brille label, Emarcy/Decca's Madeleine Peyroux, Matador act Kurt Vile, Arista/RCA country star Brad Paisley and a Big Country retrospective via Cherry Red. The singles midweeks is quiet for new entries, apart from Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead and Island's Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt arriving at 13 with Stay Out. In the Top 10 Ministry of Sound's Duke Dumont featuring A*M*E continues to lead with Need U (100 Percent), having debuted at 1 last Sunday, while Pink is around 5,000 sales behind at 2. Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead, from the soundtrack of the 1939 film The Wizard Of Oz, has moved up to Number 4 in the race to top this Sunday’s Official Singles Chart. As initially reported on Tuesday, the surge in sales follows a campaign to get the track to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart following the death of Margaret Thatcher on Monday (April 8). The former British Prime Minister passed away following a stroke, aged 87. By yesterday’s Official Chart Update, the recording – credited to the Wizard Of Oz Film Cast – had reached Number 10, but is continuing to climb. In today’s latest Official Singles Chart sales flash, which counts sales up to midnight last night (Wednesday, April 10), it had sold almost 20,000 copies - but it is still some distance behind the week’s biggest selling single, Need U (100%) by Duke Dumont FT A*M*E, which had sold more than 34,000 copies at the same point. Because Ding Dong!... is in out of copyright (and therefore in the public domain), there are a number of versions of the same recording (taken from the 1939 movie) available to buy across several digital retailers. In line with standard procedures, the Official Chart position under the artist credit The Wizard Of Oz Film Cast combines sales all the versions derived from the 1939 film recording, including versions credited to Judy Garland (pictured above) or The Munchkins. In fact, Garland’s vocal (either sung or spoken) does not feature on the track. A 1961 cover version by Ella Fitzgerald continues to chart separately, but is currently outside the Top 75. Aside from the controversial and political aspect of the single’s rise, Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead is also on course to be the shortest Top 10 single of all time (with the most popular version running to just 51 seconds) and the only sub-60 second single to make the Top 10.

I read on NME that the Judy Garland's version is too short and doesnt qualify for a chart position and the campaigners are asking people to download the Ella Fitzgerald version.
April 9, 201313 yr Author The reason I didn't add Judy Garland was because it might drop off by the end of the week, but the track seems to be climbing on iTunes now. And talking about short tracks, wasn't the Spider-pig track (The Simpsons movie) very short as well, which charted, and there was another track about 35 secs or something, which charted in the top 75 chart at one point.

The macabre sense of humour of British music fans looks set to be reflected in this Sunday’s Official Singles Chart, with Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead heading for a Top 40 placing. Opponents of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher have begun buying copies of the song (which is taken from the 1939 film The Wizard Of Oz) following her death yesterday (Monday, April 8), aged 87. Three versions of the song are currently figuring in the Top 200 – Judy Garland’s version at 54, Ella Fitzgerald’s 1961 cover is at 146 and the Munchkins' version at 183. Contrary to some reports, all three versions qualify under industry chart rules. If the sales of all three were combined, the song would be in 40th place today, with almost 2,500 sales combined – but the leading contender by Judy Garland is likely to move into the Official Singles Chart Top 40 in its own right by Sunday if it maintains its current momentum.

'Tramp The Dirt Down' could go top 100 but the Mogwai track isn't making much of an impression. Judy Garland is now top 10 on iTunes and climbing by the way.
