Come On Fandango! get into the top 40 by Sunday.

If you're wondering where @WWEFandango is on the today's #OfficialChart sales flash, it's at #50. It should climb by Sunday's final chart.

They played an instrumental B-side when the Prodigy were Top 10 with, er, 'Heroin My Female Dog Up'.

And yet they could play Meredith Brooks' "Bitch" song every week that same year because it had a "positive" message. Disk jockeys sometimes...

Midweek Charts update: Ding-Dong moves into top three

Source: MW

by Paul Willams

Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead has now broken into the midweek top three as it shapes up to become Judy Garland's first UK hit single in nearly six decades.

The track was up until the end of business on Thursday just 12,000 sales behind the week's top seller, Ministry of Spound act Duke Dumont's Need U (100 Percent) featuring A*M*E, according to the Official Charts Company.

Ding-Dong is released by the Great American Music label and is credited to the Wizard Of Film Cast, including the 1939 movie's star Judy Garland. She last had a Top 40 hit in the UK nearly 58 years ago when The Man That Got Away reached No 18 in 1955. She died in 1969.

RCA act Pink remains at 2 with Give Me A Reason featuring Nate Ruess, while the Virgin-issued Pompeii by Bastille climbs 5-4 and the Republic/Island single Hey Porsche by Nelly is up 7-5.

Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen's Paramore will top the UK artists albums chart this weekend having opened up a 142% sales lead over the rest of the field with their self-titled new set. Two RCA albums are directly below it: Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience drops 1-2 and Pink's The Truth About Love is up 5-3. Imagine Dragons' Interscope/Polydor album Night Visions drops 2-4 and Atantic act Bruno Mars climbs one place to 5 with Unorthodox Jukebox.

Besides the Paramore album, there are three other new entries in the latest midweek Top 10. Atlas/Polydor's James Blake is at 6 with Overgrown, Roadrunner's Stone Sour is at 8 with House Of Gold & Bones - Pt 2 and OMD's English Electric on 100 Percent Records is at 10.

NO SALES INFO

No chance for DDTWID to be #1 now as it has only gained 2000 sales on Duke Dumont since yesterday with only today and tommorow left.

Duke Dumont, P!nk, Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead and Psy battle it out for this week’s Official Number 1 single.

Reigning Official Singles Chart topper Need U (100%) by Duke Dumont and A*M*E is still leading the race to Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

The track, which knocked Ant and Dec’s Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble off the top spot last Sunday (April 7), is still in pole position on today’s Official Singles Chart sales flash. Need U (100%) has sold over 40,000 so far this week, up to midnight last night (Thursday, April 11).

P!nk FT Nate Ruess’ Just Give Me A Reason is at Number 2 today, followed by Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead by the cast of the 1939 film The Wizard Of Oz (Number 3).

Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead shot up the Official Singles Chart due to an online campaign to get it to Number 1 following the death of Margaret Thatcher on Monday (April 8). The former British Prime Minister passed away following a stroke. She was 87.

Ding Dong!… has climbed one place since yesterday’s Official Charts sales flash was published. From an initial sales gap of 16,000 copies on Wednesday, the track has closed in on the Number 1 by 2,000 copies per day with two days of the chart week left to run, but is still currently 12,000 copies behind Need U (100%).

Both singles face tough competition from two new tracks which are set to make their Official Top 40 debuts on Sunday.

Gentleman, the hotly anticipated follow-up to the international mega-hit Gangnam Style by South Korean rapper Psy, was made available as a digital download at midnight last night. Though it has been was released too late to make it into today’s sales flash, given his previous success, Gentleman is expected to make a key impact on Sunday’s Official Singles Chart.

Gangnam Style topped the singles charts in 27 countries across the globe, and is just one of 131 tracks to sell over a million copies in the UK. Earlier this week the Official Charts Company revealed that Gangnam Style is one of the Top 20 most downloaded singles of all-time.

And finally, World Wrestling Entertainment composer Jim Johnson’s Chachalala (Fandango), has entered the Top 40 on today’s sales flash. Chachalala…, which is the theme song of WWE wrestler Fandango (real name Curtis Hussey), is currently at Number 37.

I don't think Psy has got any hope in hell, unless it really takes off over the weekend, I don't know why the OCC report says Psy is a contender for this week's official #1.

I have full charts now :D, give me a mo, as the chart format is a bit different from the norm.

1 Duke Dumont/A*M*E

2 P!nk/Nate Ruess

3 The Wizard Of Oz Film Cast (12k behind #1)

So if Wizard Of Oz Cast are 12k behind Duke Dumont does that mean 'Need U (100%)' has suffered a really sharp decline week-on-week in sales (like 50%), or has Pink increased in sales and is looking set to sell more this week than 'JGMAR' sold last week?

Pretty sure 'Ding Dong' will overtake Pink in the next 48 hours - maybe even the end of today. If the track does get another iTunes boost and ends up ahead by some length, if might be enough to secure its place at #1. It still's unclear whether BBC will play it (I'm sure they won't because of the media backlash they'd receive, they're already facing a backlash by not confirming whether they will play it) but then as I've already mentioned, how will the music channels get around this one? Again, I'm guessing they will just announce it's #1 without much reasoning behind it and not play anything - or maybe Rudimental's brilliant new video in its place. :D (hoping Rudimental can get #1 next week, the video is awe inspiring).

22 Iggy Azalea

:o this would be awesome if happened!!

Maybe they've seen the shockingly low sales this week. Maybe Duke Dumont is only heading for 40-50k maximum, so if a big profile (although is PSY's new single really that "high profile"?) if it just sells 30k in 2 days and gets the iTunes top 10 and possibly #1 effect, it could do an Adele (can't see it myself) and enter this Sunday's chart inside the top 5.

It just makes next weeks top 10 all the more unpredictable. Will PSY take off? If it does will it crash and burn or be a genuine hit? Will Wizard Of Oz still keep on selling (enough to remain top 5 on iTunes) until Thatcher's funeral, how will Rudimental and Will.I.Am do? Will Duke Dumont really suffer a massive tail off in just 3 weeks on sale?

These and all other burning questions (like will 'All Fired Up' climb 106-104!!!) to be answered next week. :D

Its going to be a busy week next week with Rudimental, will.i.am, Psy, Duke Dumont and Wizard Of Oz Cast, I imagine all 5 acts will feature inside the top 5. I just hope Rudimental get there, the other 4 positions can be literally anyone I can't even predict it myself, Duke Dumont could come crashing down even further, if anything else comes out mid week.

Its already sold over 40k as per the MW report

58. PSY - Gangnam Style (3,400 sales) - from the Official Charts Twitter, nothing too interesting but still a bit of extra info.
Is Jakwob in today's update?

Yep and it has been mentioned in the summary ;)
