Just came across this. Apologies if this has already been posted:

The Official Top 10 Foreign Language Singles

1 JE T'AIME... MOI NON PLUS JANE BIRKIN AND SERGE GAINSBOURG 1969

2 THE KETCHUP SONG (ASEREJE) LAS KETCHUP 2002

3 WE NO SPEAK AMERICANO YOLANDA BE COOL VS D CUP 2010

4 GUANTANAMERA SANDPIPERS 1966

5 DRAGOSTEA DIN TEI O-ZONE 2004

6 MACARENA LOS DEL RIO 1996

7 LAMBADA KAOMA 1989

8 CHANSON D'AMOUR MANHATTAN TRANSFER 1977

9 TOUR DE FRANCE KRAFTWERK 1983

10 BEGIN THE BEGUINE (VOLVER A EMPEZAR) JULIO IGLESIAS 1981

Sadly Falco’s Rock Me Amadeus (Number 15), Los Lobos’ La Bamba (21), Psy’s Gangnam Style (24) and Vanessa Paradis’ Joe Le Taxi (25) failed to make the Top 10.

This was compiled late last year, so obviously Gangnam Style would be top of the list by now, but surely this top ten can't be right. Shouldn't Encore Une Fois be in there somewhere? And I find it hard to believe O-Zone has outsold Los Del Rio even with downloads. Plus surely Tour De France can't have trickle saled that much over the years? Also, no mention of Enigma's Sadness Pt.1.

What about La Bamba by Los Lobos? #1 for 2 weeks I think, sometime in the late 80's or early 90's

Edited post, just read the italics in the above post

Yeah, this was posted last year when the OCC did all those random lists to celebrate 60 years of the chart.

Some guilty pleasures in that list.

I don't see how The Ketchup Song qualifies, since it's mostly in English and Gibberish.

There's an English version and a Spanish version, so it does qualify.

There does exist a Spanish version of the Ketchup Song, but that's not the version that came out as a single here IIRC (Vidcapper should know). You might as well count 'She Loves You' by the Beatles because there's a version of that in German.

But yeah, I do remember this list being pretty severely pulled to pieces when it originally came out. I wonder whether somebody was looking at titles rather than lyrics?

'Tour De France' has been a hit three times though, that should add to its sales a bit.

The version on the UK single only has a handful on Spanish words though. You might as well include Mi Chico Latino on the list.

Amazing that Dragostea Din Tei is so high. It was a very big hit obviously, but sales in 2004 were so low.

that's what I thought! it can't have sold more than 250,000, whereas Macarena sold just under 500k unless I'm mistaken. Anyone have any sales info on the Top ten above?

Could Macarena have been revised down (as a lot of mid 90s singles were)? Maybe O-Zone's a huge trickle download seller although I've never noticed it in the live top 1500 before
If there was any justice in the world, Alizee's 'Moi Lolita' would be top of that list :P
Chanson d'Amour is partly in English.

Mostly in English I'd have said!

Jury might be out on where 'ra-ta-ta-ta-ta' derives from though.

It's hasn't really got many lyrics at all, has it?
