Bad Romance says HIYA.

Dance In The Dark is incredible as well though.

'Just Dance' is still fantastic! Easily one of the greatest debut singles of all time, for me.

What a fantastic top 6.

What I would like:

01. 'Paparazzi'

02. 'The Edge of Glory'

03. 'Dance In the Dark'

04. 'Bad Romance'

05. 'Poker Face'

06. 'Telephone'

---

How I think it'll look:

01. 'Bad Romance'

02. 'Poker Face'

03. 'The Edge of Glory'

04. 'Telephone'

05. 'Paparazzi'

06. 'Dance In the Dark'

As others have said, Just Dance is a brilliant debut single and reminds me of so many memories, but I think that it has been overshadowed by her other material.

The first promotional single to be released from Born This Way and upon a very welcomed reception around the world, also the third official single, The Edge of Glory very, very, narrowly misses out on a top 5 placing. It's the PERFECT ending to the exhausting 16 track marathon that comes before it, and manages to close it all with truly uplifting / glorious style giving listeners that one last push. Written in response to her Grandfather's death, Gaga sings about that final moment on earth, celebrating all the glory of life. With deep personal connections to her, it's no wonder that she sounds so intense and passionate throughout it, perhaps unrivaled in her back catalogue. With such a connection to her family, Gaga also decided to employ the Germanotta favourite E Street Band's saxophonist, Clarence Clemons to add some extra spark to the track allowing his jazzy tones to complete take over in that rousing solo. Clarence also featured in the music video, after which he shortly passed away, adding yet more significance to the song and it's heart-wrenchingly beautiful undertones.

The creation of the music video underwent a whole lot of controversy, as directors were fired and arguments exploded, leading Gaga to take control once again. Just like the song, it's an understated piece (especially for Gaga), as it quite dainty shows her tearing up the streets as she swirls to her own glorious sounds. It wasn't met with the greatest of receptions from fans and critics alike who had been led to expect so much more, but in all its simplicity it's still quite a fun watch. As my personal favourite from the latest album, it never fails to bring me to tears and dance like crazy in equal measures. It will always remain an extremely dear song for me (brush the haters off), and as the latest song in her offerings it only gets me more excited for the future...

The second best Gaga song EVER in my opinion.

It was definitely the definitive single of that era, great song.

The video was an absolute joke however, I only watched it in its entirity once and hoped it was a joke.

Okay the joke is no longer funny. GET RID of "Dance in the Dark" Also - no Born This Way in the top 5! :o  Hopefully that means it came third on the album rate.

Ultimate Lady Gaga Album Chart

Gaga's debut album ranks as your least favourite, as only a small handful give it the maximum points. First released in August 2008, the general theme is the ease in which one can feel like a celebrity and the love for all things glamorous. With the fame comes Boys, Money, Vanity and Paparazzi to name but a few, but the key message rings out in the opening track to the dance-crazed bonanza. The album helped to pave the way for Stefani to completely transform into Lady Gaga, as she morphed by the day, leaving everyone guessing on her next move & look. The album took a couple of years to finalise, and was made up mostly of Gaga's own experiences of trying to make it big.

Critically The Fame was fairly well received as Gaga stunned the world with her eye capturing outfits turning heads wherever she went. Nominated for six Grammy Awards, including 'Album of the Year', and winning a couple too (one of which was Poker Face for 'Best Dance Recording' // the other was awarded to the album as a whole for 'Best Dance/Electronic Album'), fame became a reality in a big way. It also made waves across the globe (including 'Best International Album' at the 2010 Brit Awards), and went on to sell millions everywhere, most significantly in the US where by mid-2010 it had became the most downloaded album ever.

When it comes to hyping up your own material, nobody can quite match Lady Gaga, especially during the 9 month hype period before releasing her latest album. Rocking the infamous "Meat-Dress" at the VMA's, where she was awarded a record NINE awards for Bad Romance (more on that to come), she promised fans that if she won 'Video of the Year' she would reveal the title of her upcoming album. And true to her word she did just that, taking home the award and then extravagantly declaring to the world that they were Born This Way. Paying meticulous attention to the entire campaign, like a true Mother nine months later, and just before her due date, Gaga's "water broke", and the album hit the internet for avid and impatient fans to bask in.

Much more theatrical and grand than the previous efforts, Born This Way is a lengthy, relentless and roaring listen, drawing on a huge number of influences ranging from Madonna, Queen, Whitney Housten and ABBA to name but a few. Far from being the "album of the decade" as promised (though some die-hard fans would still agree with that), there was no denying the impact that it had on devoted followers, who lapped up the message of the album and celebrated with it in style. Gaga also continued the message of the album with her own philanthropy, offering mental health advice on tour, and preaching about acceptance, love and equality whenever she could. But the campaign didn't run completely without its hiccups, beginning almost instantly with the album cover(!!!), and moving all the way through the disappointing performances of some of its singles, and eventually with Gaga having to cancel the final leg of the Born This Way Ball tour due to severe injuries. The album shows a remarkable jump up sonically from the previous efforts, but it did seem to alienate a huge number of casual listeners, which was to be expected as it was created primarily for her fans.

01 // THE FAME MONSTER // 4.20

There wasn't really any contest here, as more than half of you ranked The Fame Monster as your favourite Lady Gaga project. An EP in parts, but also a whole new concept album, the eight tracks here offer something quite special in each. As Gaga ditches the glitz and glamour of the fame, she turns instead to her fears and the darker underbelly of her experiences thus far. Born out of a fascination for blood, sex and horror, Gaga created her own little Monster in the form of this phenomenal piece. Critically appreciated and further stamping her mark on the pop scene, the album went on to rocket overall sales figures for the still young pop starlet to epic proportions.

It all began with the horrifically brilliant lead single, which took the world by surprise in a huge way. With one of the most iconic music videos behind it, showstopping live performances and an aura of the macabre, Gaga continued her world domination with Bad Romance. The second single saw Gaga teaming up with fellow leading lady Beyonce, and the campaign continued to snowball as she released yet another incredible music video. By the time Alejandro had been and gone, fans were eager for yet more singles, but Gaga decided instead to shift focus to her new project. Setting and smashing records everywhere, The Fame Monster will be hard to top for her; in all of it's darkness and seedy sounds, there is a painful and touching side that Gaga almost wholly left out of the debut, but that oozes out of these eight songs. It remains compulsive listening even to this day as fear has never felt this good.

Born This Way poos all over The Fame imo. The debut has like 7 filler tracks that are fun, but close to unlistenable now, whereas BTW manages to hold strong throughout most of it (probably only a couple worthy of skipping).

HIT wise though, The Fame Monster is on point. So much perfection!

It's opposite for me I barely know any album track from BTW (only Americano and Scheiße are decent) while on The Fame there's loads of decent tracks and singles were much stronger!

The Fame Monster is like a stunning song after another. It's definitely one of my favourite albums ever. Apart from So Happy I Could Die and Teeth, of course.

And even though I don't "get" Born This Way, some of the songs on there are utter beauties.

The Fame isn't all that at all though.

Fantastic winner! :D The Fame Monster is almost flaw-free (with the exception of the diabolical "Teeth" and the good-but-overrated "Dance In The Dark"). What are the eight 'monsters' that GaGa said the album explored by the way?
