The Haus #1 (i'll try and control my looning) is Buzzjack's #5, making for a very strong placing for the final album song in this countdown (not including it's Australian release). Dance in the Dark represents the fear of oneself, a theme that has dominated her music since, but this manages to do the job much better than any of the songs in her latest album (as you have mostly agreed with too considering the results). A huge fan favourite since day 1 and one of her songs that never withers with age, it was released in certain countries much to the disdain of others. Merging the danger and darkness of the album, with heart-breaking lyrics, all to a masterful beat makes this a real standout even compared to Gaga's more well-known and iconic singles.

The song was planned to be the follow up to Telephone, but after a dispute between Gaga and her record label, Alejandro was chosen instead. Performed at the 2010 Brit Awards, in dedication to Alexander McQueen who passed away just before the ceremony, it turned out to be one of her most chilling / haunting performances to date and perfectly captured the mournful beauty of the song. For me this is Gaga at her very best, encapsulating everything that makes her special into five glorious minutes. Watching the lights go down at the start of The Monster Ball and hearing the compulsive opening to this song, was a real moment, and from there the song only escalates, before peaking in the Vogue-like middle-8 where Gaga channels all of her insecurities and transcends them onto her idols. With a beautifully, catchy chorus and heartfelt verses, the song is nothing short of a masterpiece. Overrated? Never.

That Brit Awards performance is STUNNING.
Flawless song. So, so pleased to see it inside the top 5 and become the highest rated album track. I wonder what the dispute between her and the label was for, for the release? I'm assuming GaGa wanted the release, but the label didn't?

That song definitely grew on me after the Brits performance, good stuff.

Born This Way is definitely the strongest as a whole for me, as Bal said most of the album tracks on The Fame are fairly throwaway and haven't aged well. I can't stand 'Speechless' and 'Teeth' on The Fame Monster, so I guess 2/8 songs being awful drags it down massively for me.

I don't go to many big arena-sized gigs (or whatever) so was completely thrown when Dance in the Dark opened The Monster Ball. Amazing. Still one of her best.

Gaga's label wanted to release "Dance In The Dark" as the next single after Telephone, but she protested against their decision and released "Alejandro" instead. Her label probably thought the former would be a stronger single choice and the latter would flop.

Next up is Gaga's biggest single to date (officially) and the one that really seemed to capture the attention of the listening public. Slightly darker than her debut and a whole lot punchier, it smashed the records she previously set with Just Dance, managing to better it in nearly every aspect. A critical, cultural and musical smash, Poker Face was Gaga's cry to the public that she was here to stay. On a more subtle level, it is about Gaga's bisexuality and through its filthy lyrics and pounding beat, it remains a huge anthem. I always think i'm over it all, until i hear that opening and i'm instantly hooked again.

The accompanying music video, directed by Ray Kay was as sexually charged as it needed to be and features some of Gaga's most iconic looks, as her party descends into a wild game of strip poker. The song has since gone on to become one of the Lady's most well-known singles through the help of various artists covering and sampling it (the best being Kid Cudi's Make Em Say of course), and love it or hate it, it was inescapable for months in early 2009. Nominated for "Song" and "Record of the Year" at the 2010 Grammys (where it was awarded "Best Dance Recording"), Poker Face managed to top the charts virtually everywhere amassing extraordinary sales and eventually becoming one of the all-time greatest sellers, as well as frequently being cited on lists of the biggest / best songs of the 21st Century.

Quite odd that "Poker Face" is below "Paparazzi" (and "Telephone" too, actually) - I imagine those two were boosted in people's affections by their videos.
judging griff, dandz and ryan too FOR SHAME!

What can I say? I am the new indie kid on the block.

I did hear Poker Face today and was pleasantly surprised at how solid it still sounds. It still seems fairly average to me though. SORRY.

I forgot about 'Telephone', what the frig?!

That's probably one of the most faceless and average things she has done, it was pretty much carried by its video and being a big name collaboration.

Gaga's last single to hit #1 in the UK triumphantly manages to sneak its way into your top 3. Originally written for Britney (ooops), Gaga quickly took up the opportunity to record it for herself when it was rejected by Spears' team, and enlisted the help of the Queen B who happily returned the favour for Video Phone. Quite a generic song in many aspects, but still a whole lot of fun, Gaga pines about her Fear of Suffocation from men, shaking them off in grandiose style.

The clear highlight is most definitely the epic 10 minute music video, that so extravagantly blows everything else out of the water with countless iconic moments littered throughout. Channeling Tarantino in parts and the follow up to the Paparazzi music video (still to come), it combines naked prison dancing, Paper Gangstas, a Pussy mobile, sandwiches, mass homicide, epileptic fits and Thelma and Louise and still manages to have more to be continued. A true testament to Gaga's work ethic (and self-loving), watch it again in full now. DO IT. And if that wasn't enough, if certain rumours are to believed, then we could be getting a few more calls in the near future...

Telephone. *.* I'd say it has the best music video ever actually!

Don't get too excited there! Didn't count you twice in the actual voting. I usually double check your rates anyway because they're so against the norm.
