Traditionally when this question comes up the answer is The St Winifred's School Choir - the only act in chart history to be one-hit wonders twice.

They got to number one in their own right at Christmas 1980 with their only hit song 'There's No-one Quite Like Grandma' to become one hit wonders, but had also already appeared as backing singers on the 1978 Brian & Michael one-hit wonder number one 'Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs'. (as currently seen on TOTP 1978 showing on BBC4).

Although the girls shown on TOTP were not St. Winifred's School Choir. They were too young to attend the recording so some older girls appeared in their place. Jimmy Savile was not in the building.

Does anyone remember anything by Chris de Burgh, other than 'The Lady In Red'?

He had a no.3 hit with the dire 'Missing You', plus a few minor hits, but most of his pre-Lady In Red material is mostly wonderful ~ tracks like Waiting For The Hurricane, Spanish Train, Patricia The Stripper, A Spaceman Came Travelling, Crusader, The Traveller, Satin Green Shutters, etc.

Steve Wright played Spanish Train on his Radio 2 show this afternoon :)

A Spaceman Came Travelling was rather good. Sadly it became unfashionable to say that once the appalling Lady In Red was released.

Likewise "Don't Pay The Ferryman". A song very. very unlike "Lady In Red", which only strugged to the heights of Number 48.

Everytime You Need Me, Will I, Dream To Me, My Favourite Game, Feel The Beat, Stranded and One & One don't deserve to be forgotten :( I like them all more than those artists biggest hits!

Me too, but I feel the general public has forgotten them, I certainly never hear them on the radio anymore.

And I'll add Sonique! It Feels So Good is definitely the only hit of hers still remembered by most people, even though Sky is way better imo. Also perhaps Lene Marlin with "Sitting Down Here". That one is one of the few hits from 2000 still getting big airplay, "Unforgivable Sinner" never happened.

In the UK certainly none of these are played anymore aside from My Favourite Game which is probably just as iconic and remembered as Lovefool here despite its lesser chart run.

If we're speaking JUST the UK:

Gala - "Freed From Desire"

"Let A Boy Cry" and "Come Into My Life" may still get played in Europe, but it's "Freed" that still most fondly remembered.

Mike Posner's another one - remaining a one hit wonder solo obviously, but he had another top 10 hit as a feature on With Ur Love by Cher Lloyd, in fact, Cher herself could easily fall into this category as well, I doubt many remember she had another hit after Swagger Jagger (not that would be held in high regard either, if only for the controversy etc.)

Accourding to compare my radio, 'My Favourite Game' is The Cardigans' most played track of the last month! :o

001 | My Favourite Game | 149 plays

002 | Lovefool | 111 plays

003 | Erase/Rewind | 66 plays

No more... Plays include duplicates. Pleased, as 'My Favourite Game' shits over 'Lovefool'.

Unforgivable Sinner >>>>>> Sitting Down Here (by a million times)

One of my favourite songs ever.
