Single & Album Summary

Daft Punk are looking to overhaul Rudimental this week at the top of the singles chart. There is lack of potential new releases/climbers this week, Carly Rae Jepsen, Amelia Lily, Loveable Rogues and Nicky Romero & Nervo are hoping to chart inside the top 40 this week..

Michael Buble will probably retain the #1 album for a second week, new album releases from Frank Turner, will.i.am, Phoenix, Snoop Lion and Josh Kumra.

Midweek Charts: Daft Punk set for first No 1

by Paul Willams

Daft Punk are heading for their first UK chart-topping single with Get Lucky having this week already sold 60,000 copies.

After debuting at 3 on last Sunday's chart after just two days on sale, the track has now opened up a lead of nearly 30,000 sales on its way to No 1, according to the Official Charts Company. Their current chart peak is 2, achieved by One More Time back in 2000.

Get Lucky is Daft Punk's first single on Columbia since parting ways with Virgin and features contributions from both Pharrell Williams and Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers. It has already broken Spotify streaming records and helps their 2001 Virgin studio set Discovery rally 66-27 on the album midweeks.

The group's fellow Frenchmen Phoenix are also set for a new chart high in the UK this Sunday with their new album Bankrupt - and first through Atlantic - currently showing up as a new entry at 7 in the midweeks. They have only previously charted one album, 2009's Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which reached No 54.

Two other brand new albums are also occupying Top 10 positions and both come from Polydor - Frank Turner's Tape Deck Heart and will.i.am's Willpower. However, it is Turner with his first release through Universal (via his long-time label Xtra Mile) who is winning this internal sales battle, with the album having shifted around 14,500 copies by the end of business on Tuesday compared to will.i.am's Willpower attracting about 8,700 takers. Turner is placed at 2 in the midweeks and will.i.am at 3 as Michael Buble looks set to secure a second week at No 1 with the Reprise/Warner Bros release To Be Loved.

Tape Deck Heart should comfortably become Turner's highest-peaking album yet in the UK, beating the No 12 placing of his last release England Keep My Bones. Willpower will also deliver a new solo album peak for will.i.am who outside of the Black Eyed Peas has only charted once before - with Songs About Girls in 2007. Despite housing the big hit Heartbreaker, it managed to climb no higher than 68.

Virgin's Emeli Sande is firmly holding onto her Top 10 ranking with Our Version Of Events falling 3-4, while two RCA albums immediately below it also drop a place. Pink's The Truth About Love is down to 5 and Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience slips to 6. Def Jam/Virgin EMI act Fall Out Boy sink 2-8 with Save Rock And Roll as Virgin's Bastille ease 8-9 with Bad Blood and Bruno Mars' Atlantic album Unorthodox Jukebox drops 7-10.

Outside the Top 10 brand new albums challenging for places in the Top 40 this Sunday include new titles from Zodiac Swan's Rob Zombie, Snoop Dogg under his new Snoop Lion alias via RCA and rock veterans Whitesnake on the Frontiers label.

Britain's Got Talent finalists Loveable Rogues are the only brand new arrivals to the Top 10 singles midweeks at this stage of the week with the Syco-issued What A Night new at 5. However, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have worked their way into the Top 10 with Can't Hold Us featuring Dalton and on the Macklemore label climbing 12-7 with weekly sales up 135%.

Daft Punk's surge means Asylum/Atlantic act Rudimental drop 1-2 with Waiting All Night featuring Ella Eyre, while will.i.am's Interscope/Polydor single Thatpower featuring Justin Bieber falls 2-3. Columbia act Calvin Harris improves 7-4 with I Need Your Love featuring Ellie Goulding and Ministry of Sound's former No 1 Need U (100 Percent) by Duke Dumont featuring A*M*E is down 4-6. Pink's RCA single Just Give Me A Reason with Nate Ruess drops 5-8 at this point in the week and the Republic/Island-issued Hey Porsche by Nelly drops 6-9, while Pitbull's Feel This Moment single with Christina Aguilera through RCA declines 8-10.

Big sales gainers outside the Top 10 include Nettwerk act Passenger whose Let Her Go is up 44-24 with weekly sales increasing 372%, while brand new to the Top 40 are Xenomania/RCA act Amelia Lily with Party Over and the Positiva/Virgin pairing of Nicky Romero and Nervo with Like Home.

How is that not true? Why would that person lie?

a/ Not aware of a physical format

b/ Its not exactly flying on iTunes but it must be selling on other download sites.

Enjoy your brussel sprouts, Mikey...

Daft Punk looking like an easy number 1 now, insane how quick this has happened and this will actually be their first number 1! :o I reckon their album will be doing the very same in a few weeks.

b/ Its not exactly flying on iTunes but it must be selling on other download sites.

If that's the case, then why don't you accept it...

Anyway, I also hope that Daft Punk keep their #1 this week.

That's because it's doing no better on the other stores

The new releases always show up higher in the Tuesday mids, it'll be the combined sales of the EP, single track, pre-orders etc...

Amazed that we're going to get yet another dance #1, 2013 is shaping up to be the biggest year for dance music commercially since the late 90s or 2000!

But it was doing well on EP sales and sales outside of the Top 3 aren't that strong so that sounds alright to me.
The Loveable Rogues could very well be no4 in the mids. The download is no10 and the ep sales would make the difference - there isnt too much difference in the pop up bars between 12-4 in the itunes chart!
GET IN for the Rogues being #4! It's a good start in any case :)

Of course Daft Punk are at No.1 in the midweeks Whoop Whoop! Impressive numbers for the Loveable Rogues at No.4

OK, that clarifies it I was a bit dubious at first, looks like I'll be eating Brussel Sprouts for a week :puke:

On the bright side Daft Punk #1

I knew this would be top 10, Mikey.

Would you like ketchup with that?

I think it'll be top 10.

:puke: at What A Night being as high as #4 though, haven't heard the whole thing but when I previewed it, it was so awful I had to turn it off!

Daft Punk's lucky week

OK, that clarifies it I was a bit dubious at first, looks like I'll be eating Brussel Sprouts for a week :puke:

Oh dear, maybe you should listen to me next time. :( :D

With that lead, Daft Punk should be safe even with the price increase on iTunes surely? Actually, with 60k already, they could well be on for the biggest sales for a #1 this year.

Good to see 'Radioactive' still so close to the Top 10, although I'm a little disappointed it's not really translating into album sales.

Edited by Danny

Fantastic to see Carly and Nicky Romero & NERVO in the top 40, hopefully Amelia can stay in the top 40 too!
