I think 'Blackout' will go at least low top 10, the pre-order has been top 200 for a while. It's a much better song than I expected him to come back with actually. I like how he's not gone super commercial with it (or any of his singles really). Certainly fingers crossed for it to be a big hit.

Naughty Boy should be a lock for top 5 considering the pre-order success, although I did think the same about 'Wonder' :P It should definitely peak higher than 'Latch' though, wasn't expecting to see Sam Smith in the charts again after that!

I think I actually prefer the vocals on the iTunes version of 'So Good To Me'. Didn't know the vocals were sampled - surely that means the video will have to be taken down and replaced if the sample wasn't cleared?

Yeah, Tiesto and Armin are MASSIVE in the dance music scene. As much as I like C'mon, I do find it sad that Adagio For Strings is not his biggest hit when it's definitely his most remembered one. It somehow only peaked at #37 but is considered a dance classic.

William Orbit's much better version peaked at #4. :P

I too prefer the William Orbit version (Ferry Corsten Remix) which came out years before the Tiesto version, and is the version Tiesto essentially copied

Adagio for Strings wasn't available on download upon release, you had to buy a physical single to own it. Seems silly now, but this was in 2005 and only the early days of the download chart.

It did really well for a #37 hit though, it hovered around the top 75 for ages!

Yeah, Wonder didn't chart as high as I expected. Sam Smith released his debut single, Lay Me Down (produced by Disclosure I think). It's a really good song, I hope some of his future singles will chart.

The Ferry Corsten version of Adagio For Strings is amazing, I agree! I guess it's good that at least 1 of the many Adagio For Strings' was a big hit. ;)

In fact it was a new entry on the very first chart to include downloads, dated 23rd April 2005.

It's obviously made up for it since though. I presume that's because Tiesto is a more familiar name to young trance fans than William Orbit?

It'd certainly be something if Pharrell replaces himself at #1, especially as he'd never even had a #1 before 'Get Lucky'. Would be the first case of an artist replacing themself at #1 since Elvis in 2005. Dizzee Rascal nearly did it in 2010, if 'Shout' had been released just a week earlier...

John Lennon did it in the 80s after his death.

I'd be interested to see how many times it's ever been done, if anyone knows. Presumably the Beatles would've done it at some stage?

Also, as I said the other day, there's a chance Beyonce's new song is coming out tomorrow, but she's been dropping so many red herrings this year that it's hard to know for sure. I do think it's going to be BIG here whenever it comes out though.
Didn't expect to see Armin Van Buuren do anywhere near this well! Good to see so many dance songs getting success this year, and not just the odd one every few weeks but a small handful each week :D

It's only The Beatles, Lennon and Elvis that have ever done it (and The Shadows if you count their tracks with Cliff Richard as well as without him, which I do).

I think her 'new song' is just her cover of 'Back To Black' on the Great Gatsby soundtrack.

EDIT: And it's album only.

There's a new song which she's been performing on tour ('Grown Woman') which everyone assumes is the lead single for her new album, and the official "VEVO Netherlands" (officially verified) Twitter account posted the video was premiering tomorrow. But there was also a similar announcement a few weeks ago from some other source before a last-minute U-turn, so...

One that is often overlooked is Mel & Kim whose number 1 "Respectable" was knocked off the top spot by Ferry Aid's "Let It Be" on which they appeared

Interesting. Also, according to Wikipedia, I see that one of Frankie Goes to Hollywood was on the original Band Aid (which replaced 'The Power Of Love' at #1), so I suppose that could technically be counted as well.

I wouldn't personally count people who 'replaced themself at #1' by appearing on a collective single. If you count any replacements where people contributed to both there are probably a few producers/songwriters that have replaced themself at #1.
Songwriters maybe but I would say if you're counting the likes of Mel & Kim and FGTH you would have to count producers as well.
558. P Square - Alingo

This needs to be higher!

After an initial listen, I'd have to say that I agree with you there :)
