Yay for Endorphins! Alex Clare grabbing that second Top 10 hit :cheer:

Should rightfully be his third but alas.

Missing out on T10 isn't 'flopping'. They've redeemed themselves after the dire "Waterfalls" blip, so I think they're doing alright. A lack of radio support has certainly made it more difficult.

The success of "Endorphins" is genuinely shocking though - I'd consider it an insult if it outpeaked "Tidal Wave" (#12), though having Alex Clare back in the T10 is a great feat!

The annoying thing about 'Slip' is that it was clear that it had a lot of potential to do well from the onset, even after the disaster that was 'Waterfalls', but Radio 1 decided not to support it regardless. It's really quite bizarre for a Sound of... act to be completely ignored because one song performed poorly. It'd be one thing if 'Slip' had no hype but it was definitely worth a playlisting of some sort. Radio 1 are really an odd sort, to abandon an act they were previously champions of because of one misfire.
I genuinely think that 'Slip' is a really, really average song and Radio 1 did all right that it didn't playlist that mediocrity.
I wouldn't say Radio 1 were ever really 'champions' of Stooshe. Sound of... or not, they're not exactly typical R1 stan fare.

To be fair to Radio 1 though, 'Waterfalls' was an absolutely horrid idea.

First of all, it's not the late 90s/early 00s where covers are the "in" thing and, secondly, who the hell tries to cover TLC and 'Waterfalls'?! It's even more ridiculous when you take into account the fact that Stooshe are also a girl-group. Although the Emeli look-a-like is incredibly annoying, I do feel bad for them because their management really has f***ed up their career - IF it was the management's fault of course.

Bit of an OT question, but one that has been puzzling me for a while :

Why is that Goo Goo Dolls song called 'Iris', when there's no-one of that name mentioned in the song's lyrics?

Mentioned by name, I presume you mean?

AFAIK it's the name of the character in the film. But I've never seen it.

I know it's likely the reason, but I don't think we know for sure that Radio 1 didn't playlist Slip because of Waterfalls. There's lots of artists who flop and get their follow-up playlisted, and there's time where a song is massive and the next single doesn't get playlisted.

Like I think sometimes they don't playlist songs because they don't want too much of one genre on the playlist, or sometimes they simply don't like the song, and will playlist the next song.

Radio 1 playlisted The Saturdays - What About Us after My Heart Takes Over and 30 Days bombed.

Yeah, but 'Waterfalls' bombed infinitely worse.

Everyone knows that flop is why 'Slip' was snubbed, all 3 of the previous singles got playlisted. Such a shame this happens to their first properly good song too. :(

I know people have been saying '#Beautiful' could be a legitimate hit, but I thought they were just deluding themselves. Maybe they're right? :o

It's not a bad song considering it's Mariah either.

What is a Endorphin? and why is that the title of the song when it's not mentioned at all during the song?

Why are people so worried about Stooshe? Its still a top 15 hit, radio 1 dont have to play all the big hits. They have had plenty of airplay. Thats the great thing about radio 1 bands like Bring me the Horizon have no chance of a top 40 hit because of the genre but radio1 dont care they play it because they have a big fanbase, a massive live following & their album does well giving metal some needed airplay in the process.

Thats more important than Stooshe getting on the playlist imo!
